Tools and Hardware Reviews of Lasko 751320 Ceramic Tower Heater with Remote ControlCustomer Review: Ceramic Tower Heater with remote Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this item from Amazon about 1 month ago. I live in the South Jersey area and the Fall is usually a mild season so it was hard for me to gauge the ability of this heater to warm an area and at a reasonable electric charge.
Well we are in December as of this writing and we have just experienced a 24" snow fall and temperatures in the low teens.
The heater has a thermostat that operates only in the high temp mode and it oscillates. I have an area room that is 12 x 12 and has a hallway at the end of the room. The thermostat for my home furnace is about 6 feet down that hallway. I set the thermostat on the heater at 65. In a short period of time, probably about 20 minutes and starting at a temp of 55 (while at work) it takes about 15 minutes for this heater and the home furnace (I turn this up to 65 when I come home) to bring the temp in this area up to 65. From that time on the home furnace only comes on at very infrequent intervals if at all. Considering the wind chill factor for the past week or so is in single digits or the low teens, I think this is outstanding. I have not had a full month of this cold weather so it is hard to determine what the increased cost in my electric bill will show. I am predicting in the 20-25 a month range and I expect to cut the use time of my home furnace in half. I burn kerosene and consdier this: I just had 100 gallons delivered at the senior citizen discounted cost of $341.00. Do the math.
The heater fan is audible if you don't have the TV on but not annoyingly so; with the TV playing I don't even notice the fan.
I paid 45.00 for this heater and I think it is one of the best purchases I have made in recent times. The heater is attractive, takes up very little space, and does what I paid for; what more could I want?
And as always. I purchased this through Amazon. It arrived in a timely manner and in perfect condition and shipped via Amazon Prime. I have been purchasing items from Amazon for more that two years and I am completely satisfied with them.
Customer Review: Perfect Bedroom Heater Summary: 5 Stars
If it's not bitterly cold I leave it off at night because I sleep better if the room is cool but I keep the remote control by my bed so that in the morning I can turn the heater on and get the room toasty before I leave those warm covers. Once up I usually set the temperature of the heater to 70 then when I return after a while for my shower and to get ready for the day I can do so in a warm bedroom/bathroom. When we have truly cold nights I set the heater at its lowest temperature of 60, or maybe 65 degrees so that it can click on and off and keep the room comfortable all night. And by the way, the temperature setting is accurate - I have the ExactSet Projection Clock BLUE by my bed and have checked it several times to see if the room temperature matches the heater setting and it always does! Amazing! The heater is not silent but not noisy either. The remote is of a very handy shape and super easy to figure out with explanatory graphics on each button. It can control any and all functions of the heater and in fact it's better in the way that when changing temperature settings the remote lets you go up or down whereas using the temp button on the heater you can only go up so you have to press through an entire cycle if you're wanting to lower the temperature. You get an easy to hear beep whenever you use the remote so you know if the heater received its orders. I don't use the oscillate feature, it doesn't seem to me that having it turn would help in any way. I appreciate the indention on the back at the top so when you want to relocate the heater your fingers have a better hold on it and being tallish you don't even have to bend down, just grasp it at the top and go. My cord does not heat up, it gets just a little warm even after running non-stop for over an hour. I'm very happy with this heater.
Customer Review: Finally! Summary: 5 Stars
Reading the other reviews of this product I realized I had to write one of my own to help potential purchases realize they will really be missing out if they bypass this heater. This is the fourth space heater I've purchased in the last two months and finally one I can keep.
My living room has three sets of glass french doors, high ceilings, and lots of windows. It is very hard to heat it, but there is no central heating system, so I have to rely on space heaters. I tried the expensive Vornado (over $100), which didn't make a dent in the cold, the noisy Honeywell oscillator (which not only gave me a headache it was so loud, but also didn't provide quite enough heat, though it heated better than the Vornado), and the WindChaser radiant heater (which left the room freezing cold but made me sweat at the same time, extremely unpleasant). Finally I found this item.
It heats the room to the point where it actually shuts off sometimes, having reached the desired 65 degrees at night or 70 degrees in the day. The fan is as quiet as the Vornado when on high and is even quieter when on low. The quietest heater I've ever found. And as for the cord, while my oil filled heater does have a thicker cord and I do notice that this cord gets warm where that one doesn't, after 96 hours of continuous usage, it is just barely warm. Hardly anything I would worry about starting a fire, though a thicker cord would be a good investment for the manufacturer to make.
Given the natural limitations of space heaters, I think you simply can't do better than this one. If this heater doesn't work for you, then an electric space heater isn't going to do it for you and you should be looking at other heating options entirely.
Customer Review: Great little heater saves money Summary: 5 Stars
I lived in an old trinity where we have a heater in each room so we can regulate it. Our usual winter bill is about $200 though it was a bit higher the year before cuz my roommate from texas just kept cranking everything up and i usually had my heater in my bedroom upstairs off since most of the heat from the 2nd floor just came put to my room. Anyway, i got this heater and had another roommate living on the 2nd floor who turns the heat on even when he's away for a month. So i kept using this heater, i didn't turn on the heater upstairs and all i relied on was this.
I have to say it does a wonderful job. i like the remote control aspect of it cuz once you memorize where everything is at, you don't need to open your eyes at nite to crank it up, just push the button. I like the thermostat in it, it's just wonderful. This heater really heats soo well. i haven't had any issue with the cord. i used all winter last year and instead of our usual $200 for two people, the highest bill was $125 and that includes my roommate using his part of the heat normally so it sure did save us money. this year, i've been using it in my room and it still works fine.
It's definately a great investment. Peco charges so a good amount for using electric heat so getting this heater made me a lot less to Peco. It's good a for big enough bedroom with 2 closets, my room was the only thing on the third floor so it was big. i didn't want to shelve this much money for a heater, i wanted the $20 ones at cvs but i'm glad i did and i don't regret one single bit. For someone who's never used gas heat and always uses electric, i do see a difference on my bill. i got this heater out in october and i'll be using it to keep warm all winter.
Customer Review: WOW...what a difference! Summary: 5 Stars
I've lived in a townhouse for 11 years with 2 electric, in-wall space heaters in the basement. I spend a lot of time down here because that's where my home office is, treadmill, TV, computer, washer/dryer, and 1 bed.
The in-wall units are noisy and to run in the winter months. An HVAC tech was here a few months ago for another issue. He's the one who told me about these electric space heaters. I did a little research online and found that this LASKO heater had a 4½ star rating, so I bought one. I've had it plugged in for only a few minutes and the basement is warmer already! It's so much QUIETER than the old in-wall space heaters. I don't even know it's on. It's got a small remote, too. It's got all the bells and whistles on it, too. And for only $[...], what more could I ask for?
I would highly recommend this heater to anybody who wants a quiet unit that heats up the room. I'll be anxious to see how it helps the electric bill, too. For years, my winter electric bill has looked like the National Debt, and that's with only 1 heater running. I almost tapped out the first time I ran both heaters and got the electric bill. It's still high with only 1 heater, but not as bad as running both of them. I'll be anxious to see how this new LASKO heater helps the electric bill. I'm sure it's a much more efficient heater.
I'm even thinking about one for the upstairs, too. I didn't see this one before. It looks good and is the same price, too.
