I inherited my Gran's Hoosier cabinet, which was her 1920 wedding gift from my Granpa. There is a dedicated Spice Rack on the unit, which holds 10 original glass bottles, which I've filled with spices and herbs I use daily. There is also what I call a "Spice Drawer" on the Hoosier, where I've always kept my bottles of McCormick Spices.
However, this large drawer is ONLY 3.25 inches deep, so the McCormick Spice bottles, laid on their side, sucked up all the room, only allowing for 18 bottles to be held within that drawer. All the remaining herbs and spices I use were scattered "Here, There, & Everywhere" throughout the cabinet and kitchen.
After doing some pleasant amazon research several Sunday's ago, I came across THESE bottles and cookiebaker's very helpful dimensions for these bottles. I promptly ordered THREE sets of these jars and am now the very happy and proud owner of THIRTY TWO CUSTOM LABELED SPICE BOTTLES, filling my Spice Drawer, rather than 18 store bought bottles!!! (That's 14 extra spices that can go into that drawer!) They hold almost an entire bottle of spices; the extra tablespoon or so that won't fit, I will easily use up within the month. I am SO glad that I found these; the price point is excellent and they are as sturdy and secure as can be. 90% of my spices are "ground" and after baking all weekend long, I've noticed NONE of the spices "blowing up in my face" when I remove the lid, as one person mentioned. I simply place the container on the top of my Hoosier cabinet, hold the side securely and ease the top off of it. NO "puff" of spices comes out!
Mine arrived in flawless condition and after a good washing, ready to be put to immediate use! Where I had too little space for all my herbs and spices BEFORE these bottles, I actually have eight EMPTY bottles in my Spice Draw, ready for me to fill up and add to my collection. :) Very, very happy with this purchase.
