I have been wanting this type of emergency radio for sometime. Typically they cost around $50.00. The price for this one seemed a good value.
However, when I received it I immediately noticed it was very cheaply made and it did not include the charging adapter nor the plug to charge a cell phone. The fine print indicated the purchaser must send $11.95 handling charge for the adaptors. The digital readout did not work, both AM and FM reception was not good. Also, it did not receive any of the Weather Channels. After receiving the adapters and trying to understand the controls, I opted to return it. Amazon will refund the initial cost, but not the "handling" fees for the "free" adapters. Beware of this product.

I ordered this item from the daily special because the text said it came with a cell phone charger. My radio arrived today and there was no cell phone charger. There was no included cord for this purpose. I also expected the power adapter to be included. I did not see in the original description that the power cord had to be ordered separately and more money paid for shipping it. The whole description was very misleading. The packaging also states that Quad Power includes "Crank power and solar power". This radio is not ever close to having a solar panel. I am very disappointed about not having a power adapter cord and a cell phone charger being included.Customer Review: Terrible weather band reception, never received accessories

In two places I have lived, this radio does a terrible job of receiving the weather band transmissions. I have compared its reception to another brand, cheaper, weather radio, and the cheaper model far outperformed the Life Gear. So, it sucks at performing its one vital role, warning you of bad weather.
I also ordered the 'free' cell phone accessory and charger - shipping costs were very high. The cell phone adapter took a month to arrive and was not the right size. I never received the charger.
Skip this dreadful radio and go for a one that has SAME technology and can actually pick up the broadcasts.

Cheaply made and poorly designed. Out of the box mine wouldn't charge with the crank. The NiCad battery was too dead. NiCads have the worst issues with "charge memory" so what a dumb idea to use them in the first place. The solution, according the the instructions is the plug it into the wall for at least 12 hours. There is no charger included. Log onto their website and order their "free" charger for $5.95 shipping and handling. As an emergency device this is useless unless you have fresh AA batteries in it. The antenna is tiny and the radio reception is very poor, as well. I'm glad I got this one sale and only wasted $25.Customer Review: Not so good

The first time this item was received it was a piece of junk...didn't work at all. I returned the item and it was reshipped. The second one works okay...so far. I ordered an AC charger from the manufacturer, but as of yet it has not been received. I keep getting put off and told that it takes a very long time for the USPS to ship this item. I find it hard to believe that it takes almost a month for the postal service to deliver this item. I probably will not order any other items from this manufacturer.
