We had every countertop paper towel holder there is. Basicly, if you don't screw it to the counter or weight it down with a concrete block you can't pull a single sheet off it without dragging it across the room. We got an under counter mounted one that every time you pulled the sheets sideways to tear them off the arms of the holder bent.
This holder is a solid, well built paper towel holder that has a click brake on it to allow you to tear off one single sheet at a time or pull off several sheets and tear them off cleanly and smoothly. I highly recommend this holder.

Before this towel holder, I had a plastic towel holder. When taking paper towels from it, the whole roll might come off, or it would roll off 5-6 paper towels. I needed two hands to rip off only one towel.
With this towel holder, you can easily pull off the number of towels you want, with one hand!! Every time I use it I am glad that I purchased this holder. I am going to buy one to give as part of a shower gift - everyone should have one of these.
I mounted mine from the bottom of a cabinet, using the shorter screws from my old under cabinet holder.

This paper towel holder is the best thing I have found in years! I suffered forever buying more and more paper towels, while my husband ripped off three and four at a time, and I always brought the entire roll down on the counter when I tried to get one.
Finally this solved my problem for good. I LOVE this thing! In my whole kitchen remodel, this is my favorite addition.
I show it to all of my neighbors, and they too are impressed with the simple ratchet design and fool proof operation.

This paper towel holder really is fantastic. At first I didn't think much of it and wondered if I'd wasted money. But the design really is genius, and you start to appreciate it quickly. Once you're in the middle of another task, with one hand full, you realize "hey - this would've been a real pain in the neck without my new doo-hicky" since you'd have to put down whatever you were holding etc, to make sure you didn't pull 10 sheets off at once.
Plus you never have to worry about the roll falling off the rack and rolling across the floor.

Like pretty much everyone else here, I am totally pleased with this towel holder. It has simple installation, it looks clean and modern, you really can dispense towels with one hand (and it really isn't that noisy -- I have skittish cats and they got used to it right away), and my favorite part is that you attach the towel roll by just sliding it along the rod, rather than having to pull apart two sides to hold it up, like with a lot of other towel dispensers. This makes refilling your supply super simple. And, as others have noted, the price is amazing. Get one!
