Just wanted to add that I recently purchased this to operate my amateur radio equipment in a low-light camping situation and I was amazed at the quality and sturdiness of the unit for $4.00 apiece. It has a bright enough light to show the face of a radio or other equipment in the pitch-dark of a mountain-top camp-site.
The foot/base/clam is surprisingly rugged and as is the goose neck.
I have not owned the unit log enough to comment on the battery life but have used it continuously for eight hours without any diminution of brightness. I kinda get the feeling that it will last well longer than 16 hours which is all I need anyway.
By the way, eBay has *sheets* of the CR3202 batteries for a song and changing them out in this unit is (literally) a snap.
I ordered three more of these little guys; bound to come in handy.

For Christmas I purchased a $20 Kindle light for my husband, which I really liked. I decided to purchase one for myself and found this one for half the price. It's exactly the same, works great, and I can read in bed without turning on the overhead light, etc. It shines on the page very well, I have no trouble seeing, clips on well (although I clip several pages together at once if it's a soft-bound book), and moves easily if you need to flash more light anywhere. So far I've used it nearly every night for about 1.5 months and the little battery is still working fine. It came with 2 spares though, and we purchased an extra package of batteries so I'm good. Although I've read other reviews about the light switch going out, this hasn't happened with mine. At this price, I'm not too concerned about it, either.Customer Review: Pleasantly surprised

I was looking for a good night light to use for my kindle. I was able to purchase this for about $6 from Borders (my location is closing so they're getting rid of some merchandise). I can say this is definitely worth the price (even the original price). It's a very sturdy device with the metal bendable neck. I was so stoked about this that I had to write a review immediately. I'd originally shut my computer off for the night. This thing is so bright compared to the old Book Owl clip on light I'd been using. I much prefer the even dispersement with this product. And actually, this light is so bright that it would make a decent flashlight. I think I may run and grab a couple more for good measure. This light has served so many purposes in our home. Of course it is great for reading - it clips on so perfectly to the back of the book for use of turning pages and it is lightweight so no added weight while holding your book!! I also use it for a nightlight when we need to get out of bed and as a nightlight for our newborn son when we go out of town. It clips perfectly on his bassinet. We also use one in the house over his changing table-it clips on the blinds so that in the middle of the night we can see but it doesn't wake us or the baby fully. I've been needing a little book light like this for a while. When my spouse is on the other side of the bed keeping a light on is really annoying and not fair. I have a lot of trouble getting to sleep at night so reading until my eyes cross is a rock solid way of getting to fall to sleep. This light has been a total helper and provides plenty of light for me to read without straining.
I would get this gift for anyone needing a little book light!
