Tools and Hardware Reviews of Lux TX9000TS Touch Screen Seven-Day Programmable ThermostatCustomer Review: Fantastic thermostat Summary: 5 Stars
After moving into a new home, I was eager to remove the clunky old mercury-based Honeywell thermostats on which I could barely read the numbers and which, of course, lacked any sort of programmability. The key with these thermostats is that they are completely programmable with up to 4 times a day when you can change the temperature. Each day is separately programmable. You can can override the default program by setting the machine to "hold" the temperature constant. The thermostat is really easy to install and the blue backlight looks much better than the green one in many other models. Once you set up your program, your main interest will likely be in just checking the current temperature and/or time. This model has a nice, large button in the lower right for activating the backlight for several seconds. I have since replaced all my thermostats with this model and I'm extremely pleased with the results.
Customer Review: Nice Thermostat. Summary: 5 Stars
I Just installed this thermostat. I was impressed with the programmable options.
I am 55 years old. I am considering one for my mother. However,
my mom is hard to please. And, I am pretty sure the overide of a manual temperature
adjustment stays set until it gets to the next time interval (i.e. 10pm-6am).
I only just installed this Lux. Preferably, a manual overide could be engineered
for a 2 hour interval only. This is just my opinion. Time will tell.
Programming would be impossible for anyone over 70 years old.
I don't normally review any items. But,
I really like this thermostat! I hope you do too!! :)
UPDATE:
This thermostat has a "HOLD" that makes it like a standard thermostat.
Or, you can just tap a new temperature that will stay until the interval is done. You can't go wrong buying this thermostat! I LIKE IT!
Customer Review: Lux TouchScreen Programmable Thermostat Summary: 5 Stars
This is an excellent thermostat. This is my third programmable thermostat, and the absolute best one I've had.
I replaced the last one (another brand) since it was just too time consuming to program (it usually took me about 30 minutes since, if I made one mistake, I'd have to start all over,) and, every time the battery died, I would have to reprogram it.
This new Lux is so easy to program and change. (No more tiny buttons to deal with!) It is completely user friendly. I've changed it already several times to fine tune my pre-set temperatures. The information is very easy to see--especially with the built in light. (My last one I'd have to retrieve the instruction manual, take it off the wall, and fight with it for 30 minutes.) The new Lux was also very easy to install. I'm so glad I got rid of the old one and replaced it with this very nice looking and well working Lux.
Customer Review: Rated #1 by Consumer Reports Summary: 5 Stars
I have an older model floor/wall heat system that requires a millivolt thermostat. I ordered the LUX TX9000TS thermostat recently after reviewing consumer reports on-line. I'm happy to say this thermostat was easy to install without any issues. It has large easy to read letters and numbers without having to use my reading glasses!!! After the unit arrived, I had it mounted and programmed in 15-20 minutes. According to the Lux website, this unit will also operate most 24 vac systems too. The touch screen is a nice feature and is really straight forward. The blue back light feature is an added plus during the evening and actives on the push of a button, and turns off automatically in about 15 seconds. For those folks who are shopping for a thermostat and can't decide, in my opinion, I believe most folks will comfortable purchasing this unit. I'm glad I did, and hope you will be too!
Customer Review: Great upgrade. Summary: 5 Stars
I'm a huge cheapskate. In the good way. I'm always looking to save a buck. My bills went down after buying this in the beginning of Sept. Unfortunately this is my first year in the house. Therefore I won't be able to compare actual months until next year.
With that said it's 7 day programmable and having 4 zones per a day make a lot of sense. It looks great. I also purchased the wall plate for it.
Only gripe is it had a bit of a learning curve to start and the default times for the 4 zones didn't fit me very well. I enjoy the "swing temperature" also. It allows me to give the thermostat a degree range (mine is 2) to work in. That way my AC/Heat is not constantly cycling on and off.
I will try to remember to review it again next year and compare energy savings month against month of the years.
