After a little problem following the wiring diagrams (we have a 2 wire system for oil fired furnace, baseboard heating - should have been really simple), we had it up and running! Yes, the instructions are a little rough, but once you figure out that you have to press "yes" instead of "next" to save the time/temp setting, it's all gravy from there! You can program the temperature to change 4 different times during the day - the original settings are for 6am, 8am, 6pm, & 10pm, but you can change those too). The backlight feature is quite nice (note: you do have to push a button to get it to light, and it only stays on for a few minutes), but only necessary when you want to change something. Love the touchscreen and large display! Overall we are VERY satisfied with this product!Customer Review: Very nice to use and a breeze to install

This is a very nice thermostat, with four settings per day. I toyed with the idea of buying the version that has a remote control that beams through walls but without the touch screen. There are times that would be a nice feature, but the touch screen is fun to use and has a nice aesthetic. I was so intimidated by the install that I kept it in the package for about 5 months after I bought it. Sorry I waited, it was very easy to do. I thought I would have to shut down power to the entire room, but you really just need to switch off your furnace. Not enough zap in the wires to hurt you anyway. I enjoy very much getting out of bed in a warm house and not having to worry about turning down the heat when it is time to sleep! There was a very simple digital thermostat with no programming features in my townhome when I purchased it. I wanted something that would turn on the heat in the morning before I woke. After reading the reviews on this and other units here at Amazon, I decided on this thermostat. Installation was fast and simple. Programming was even simpler. There's a built-in Energy Star compliant program but I chose to customize. It was a snap. In just a few minutes it was running. It has a large and attractive touchscreen, a 15-second backlight for use in the dark, and an streamlined case that will fit in nicely in almost any home. The Amazon price is much lower than retail stores. I highly recommend this unit to do-it-yourselfers of any skill level.Customer Review: Works as advertised!

The LUX TX9000TS was purchased to replace a Honeywell model that I had. The Honeywell started acting erratically even after a battery change so I decided to purchase this model after reading the reviews here and looking at the Consumer Reports ratings. The unit arrived and within 20 minutes or so, I had it fully operational. There was a bit of a learning curve with regards to creating the daily programs, etc. but it wasn't any more difficult than the Honeywell that I used to own. Once you get used to the layout, it is relatively simple to use. Another big plus for me was the larger display and backlight. Great product and easy to use. I've been using it for about a month and everything seems fine.Customer Review: Accurate and easy to use

I never thought replacing a thermostat would make a big difference, but I am very glad I purchased this thermostat. We already had a programmable thermostat but it was over 10 years old. We did some house remodeling and I decided to look for a newer thermostat. This one got a great review in Consumer Reports so I took the plunge, especially since the price was nice on Amazon.
The unit is pretty easy to install and program. The only gripe I had is having to select "yes" every time I made a configuration change.
Overall, I swear our house is warmer and the furnace does not come on as often. So, I am hoping we'll see a improvement in our utility bill.
