Customer Review: Who needs a bat when you have this?

I had purchased this Maglite originally for my sister. She bought a house in the bay area, and so I thought a great housewarming gift would be a 6D Maglite. She lives by herself, has no pets, and I figured she could use an excellent flashlight. I'm not saying she can not defend for herself, I'm just saying that everyone, no matter if you're living in an apartment or house, should have at least one 6D Maglite. However, she sees the size of this thing, and rejects my gift. She told me she'd throw it away, so I said I would take it. I gave her my 2D Maglite in place of the 6D and now I have one of these bats and my sister has a smaller version. Did I mention the size of this flashlight?
I just went camping to Yosemite for a week, and let me tell you, this flashlight was great. You can take off the head of the flashlight, and it becomes a lantern. It lights up any tent or campground. My buddies were impressed with how durable and reliable the Maglite. Overall, I would recommend this product to anybody. Even police officers tell people to get this flashlight. So when you have law enforcement officers referring individuals to this product, then you know it has to be an effective item.

Maglites have been around for a long time now. At first the big powerful flashlights were considered cutting edge technology. Their high quality focusing lens, computer machined aluminum housing with rubber gaskets and xenon light bulb are all still the best quality one can buy. However they look a little old fashion next to the super bright, super efficient LED flashlights. But the Maglite has two big advantages over ANY other light on the market. For $20 instead of $120 you have a light that while bigger and heavier is just as bright as any small LED light and it will last 25 years (my last one did). Plus, if this is for security work or checking on bumps in the night, 10 lbs of metal 2 1/2 feet long feels a lot better in your hands than 6 inches of plastic. Do not waste your money on the LED bulb. I bought one of the best and most expensive upgrades and really see no difference. If you want a really good flashlight that will last a long time and always work I know of nothing that even comes close to the Maglite. One other thing, yes the 6-D battery is MUCH brighter than the 2 or 4 D battery sizes. Other than the money I wasted on the LED bulb upgrade this is the best $20 I have ever spent.Customer Review: Club with Flashlight Attachment

I've recently taken up the sport of extreme hunting, where I forgo traditional weapons and instead equip myself with nothing more than my wits and a club. Because I typically stalk my prey at night, I decided to give the S6D106 a try. I've found, however, that the product's primary qualities (size and mass) make it more suitable as a hunting implement than a flashlight. I've downed many deer and other game by simply bashing their heads in with this tool.
The S6D016 also serves as an acceptable anti-bear device. I was once attacked by a female grizzly bear during one of my hunting trips. Instead of running or screaming as is usually suggested, I countered the bear's charge with my own Maglite assault. The sturdy construction of the S6D016 was proven when I used the flashlight to parry the bear's swipes. I am alive today because of this flashlight.
Finally, the beam generated by the S6D016 is powerful and clear. It's a pretty good flashlight. But, that hasn't been the focus of my use of the product in a long time.
Customer Review: Best Blackout illumination ever!

Experience coping with blackouts led me to experiment with lots of battery lights -- fluorescent, LED, and conventional incandescent bulbs. This 6 D-cell light provided the largest area AND brightest illumination.
Here's how I used it: I set it vertically so its beam bounced off white ceilings. I also used some handy household objects as a base holder to keep it from tipping. In the kitchen it provided enough light (while aimed at the white ceiling) to prepare a simple meal using the gas stove -- and for washing dishes afterward.
Later, in a 20' x 30' living room, it provided enough light bounced off the ceiling so that everyone could sit, talk, eat dinner, and see everyone else in the room. That was comforting & reassuring!
Finally, in the bathroom & bedroom, this very bright light, aimed at the white ceiling, provided enough illumination for showering and brushing teeth as well as allowing two persons to move around a bedroom without bumping, stumbling, or stubbing toes.

I have had a five D-cell maglite since 1986 and it's still working great; I've only had to replace two lamps within that time. I was a scoutmaster for years and the boys called my flashlight, "The Sun". When they would try to sneak off I could always find them . . . the flashlight lit up the whole mountain or I could narrow the beam and spot a boy nearly a mile away.
I bought this six-celled maglite because I was tired of always having a lone battery with my five-celled light because batteries aren't packaged in odd numbers. That in fact is my recommendation to you to buy a six-cell maglite rather than a five-cell so you don't have an odd battery going to waste. I now have two great flashlights one is under my bed and the other is on my refrigerator where they are always available for emergencies and lighting up the whole dang town if I have too :-)
