I purchased this bit set as a starter kit before I really even knew which bits I needed. I have found the set to be of sufficient quality and a tremendous value. As I have progressed in my woodworking hobby, I've had the opportunity to use just about all the bits that are included in this set. Over time I figured out which bits I used more heavily, and have since invested in "premium" brands such as Whiteside and Amana for new bits. After using those brands, I'll say that the MLCS bits are by no means top of the line, either in sharpness or durability, but they are still an excellent value for the money and I often buy from MLCS. This particular item is a great set for learning more about different types of bits and how to use them, and also an excellent gift for someone who's just getting started with routing and doesn't have any bits.Customer Review: Very happy so far

I am very new to routing and this is my very first set. I specifically got this and my router to do some work on plywood. So far, I've used only the straight and roundover bits on a test cheap chinese made oak hardwood plywood sheet that I got to play around with until I get the hang of things. I am pleased to say that there was no chipping or tearing of the veneer layer with either bit, even with my very first and my very inexperienced cut! There was a minor tearout at the end of the cuts, and that's to be expected anyway. For the "real" stuff, I'll be using sacrificial blocks at the ends to prevent tearouts.

I recently purchased the 15 piece Carbide Tipped router bit set. This set contains enough bits to create just about any design your imagination could conjure up. I opted for the 1/2 inch shank because of the "Heft" compared to the 1/4 inch shank. My opinion is more is better. The box these come in is a nice addition to my tool display and very handy to store the bits in. If you are looking for quality at an affordable price, this set is for you. You could buy more expensive bits, or less expensive bits, but keep in mind you get what you pay for and this set is worth your money.

I purchased a 30 piece set of MLCS router bits in a nice case back in 2003. I've had nothing but good use out of them and I am still using them today. 2 or 3 are worn and burned but should be able to be honed back into shape. MLCS puts out a catalog ever so often and has an extensive line of bits and accessories. If I need to purchase a single specialty bit, I reach for this catalog. They're as good of a deal you can get on router bits. I recommend them highly. They also make a 60 piece set if you need that much variation. My buddy bought it and there are bits in there that I don't think I would ever use.Customer Review: Great Bits

I am new to routing and in fact had to look at the instructions on my Dewalt router (GREAT TOOL!) to make sure I was setting everything up correctly. The bits feel strong, are weighted well, and come with a very nice wooden case to protect the bits.
I was putting a shelf made of a 1" pine plank from HD in the garage. I decided to use the router b/c who cares if I messed it up. It was going in the garage. I studied technique online and it turned out great. My next project is to build a table from Aromatic Red Cedar for my Primo ceramic grill.
