I bought five of these after reading other positive reviews. I add mine to those. These are light, solid, adjustable and easy to use. I have them protecting two doors and three windows, for which they work equally well. It took me about 10 minutes to install them all. They are made of aluminum so they are light a very strong. They appear to work equally well on carpet and hard floors. The rubber boot seems to grip very well. I believe it would take a lot of force to get through these. Hopefully enough for an intruder to think, "I'll go someplace else easier to get in to!" I recommend this product. Fair price, good Master Lock quality and they do what they advertise. I read all the reviews before I tried this product. I am very concerned and picky shopper. I thought I would give this a try. I believe the key to this product is the flooring you are using this on. The foot on the lock works excellent on title or wood. I would not recommend this product on carpet.
One key point to remember...the farther away you have the base from the door the less strength it has. Try to get it between 70 degrees and 80 degrees. I was able to knock it out of place at 50 and 60. I normally do not worry about safety; however, I am a heavy sleeper. I can fend for myself but I have to hear it first. This product does exactly what it is intended to do! My next door neighbor has one, and her 300lb dad couldn't get through the door when it was engaged! Now that's not to say that with enough determination, strength, and time that someone can't at some point get through the door - but it will give you more than enough time to call the cops, get a weapon, and hide or exit from another entrance. No one will want to make that much noise to get through your door or take that much time. I love this product, it definitely gives me a piece of mind and I highly recommend it - especially to those in apartments, dorms, or live alone!Customer Review: Purchased for my sliding glass door -- and we love it.

I just wanted something that would fit snugly into our sliding glass door. If you use a bar that gives the door any wiggle room, a potential intruder can lift the door enough off of its track to slip a tool under it and dislodge it. This reinforced bar makes it so that an aggressor would need to break glass to get in. It's adjustable, solid, and does the job perfectly.
It came with an attachment for regular doors, which most of the reviews seem to discuss. I don't have anything to say about that. I bought this with one intention only -- to use for our sliding glass door -- and for that, it's perfect.

I am so glad I puchased this security bar. I learned the hard way how well it worked. The first weekend I used it I locked myself out (went out of the garage door and did not have my garage opener with me) and had to climb in through the balcony. The security would not budge and the small opening that was available when we unlocked the door with the key was not large enough to poke anything through to try and dislodge it. This is a great buy in order to get some security. An intruder would literally have to break down the door or break the glass (if you have it on your door) to get in.
