We rent a townhouse and it is in an okay part of town. There has been a few instances in our neighborhood. Since we cannot install an alarm, and the locks are just basic, we actually have slept better at night putting this on our front door. Just gives you a little more security at night since we sleep in the back of the house on the 2nd floor.
Very sturdy product, I recommend it!

This is a well made product and it seems to work perfectly for the purposes for which it is intended. Easily adjustable, solid yet lightweight, attractive design. Master lock brand reliability is a plus as well. Nice that it can be used in a sliding door too. We won't be so worried about shutting the patio door every time we leave the house next summer, as long as this bar is securely in place.Customer Review: Works very well

This is just what I was looking for. A little extra security for my front door. We have tile in the entry way, and when in place it is very secure. To test it out I have tried to open the door with a lot of force, with it in place. It kept the door closed and secure. It is very easy to assemble, adjust and use. I purchased two of these security bars. My husband and I tried to open the doors with these in place and we couldn't open the doors. I feel very secure at home now if he has to leave. We thought about a security system but we didn't want to pay a monthly fee, so we purchased these. Very good investment. Amazon had the best prices for my security bars that I could find on the internet.

I am a single female living in an apartment that has its own outside entrance. My friend came over and we tested it out - he stood outside and tried to "break in" and the security bar really held the door closed well. I would recommend when you put the bar in at night that you use your foot to kinda pound in the bottom of the bar (the part on the floor) to give it a little more of a wedge.
