Description of Master Craft ER1097M-L Color-Changing Floating Solar Powered Light Globe
Add fun and interest to your pool, pond, garden or walkway with this solar-powered color-changing globe from Master Craft. Globe can be floated in non-chlorinated water, mounted on it's ground stake or placed on it's pedestal base on a table or other flat surface. Globe has a super bright LED bulb that continuously changes color through the whole spectrum of color. Add multiple globes to any outdoor area for an enhanced effect. Great decorating element for an outdoor evening party. Globe is constructed of a UV resistant translucent white ABS plastic and houses the high efficiency Polycrystal 3.84-Volt/0.38-Watt/99 mA solar panel. Includes two AAA 700 mAh Ni-Mh rechargeable battery that lasts up to ten hours when fully charged. A built-in light sensor turns globe on at dusk and off at dawn. Waterproof and freezeproof. Globe dimensions are 5-1/2-inch in diameter. Ground steak is 5-7/8-inch long. Black pedestal base is 5-1/2-inch in diameter. Customer Review: Unbelievably bright for a solar LED

We have a small pond and I wanted something to brighten it with light at night without having to hook anything up. The solar globe light is fairly large, not basketball size, but definitely softball. The construction seems solid and so I was confident in place the item in the water. The solar panel is situated inside the plastic shell so is invisible (how the UV passes through the plastic is a mystery to me) and The base where the nicad batteries are held is at the bottom protected by a rubber gasket. During the day the globe deceptively looks like a child's ball accidentally discarded into the water but of course, nightime is when the fun begins...
This item is incredibly bright - much more so than standard garden solar lights and the transition between all the colors of the rainbow is smooth and looks awesome. Interestingly though the light doesn't cast much ambience so you have a kind of floating 'dot' rather than an omni light reflecting on the water (as shown in the picture). The light lasts all night too.
All in all a great buy especially given the price. Recommended.
