Designed for use with low-pressure drip or soaker hoses, the timer offers hourly settings (once every 8, 12, or 24 hours) or daily settings (once every two, three, or seven days). Programming on the tool is simple--a combination of lighted prompts and a dial with tangible clicks. The unit runs on a 9-volt battery that lasts a full watering season with average use. A gentle shutoff mechanism keeps pipes from banging, while a battery-indicator triggers a flashing light when power's low. This thing is great. I've been singing the joys of having a timer to water my garden all summer. I should say that I don't have experience with a lot of other watering timers, so I can't compare it to those. I have just been really impressed with this unit.
Operating is pretty easy. Easy on. Easy off. Easy to switch to automatic again. It is a little confusing the first time you set things up, but they provide a couple nice stickers with the operating instructions on them to stick to the unit.
You will definitely save water and plants with this. No more worrying about having someone water your plants while you are out of town or realizing you've just forgotten to water them for the past week. If you've been thinking about getting a time, do!
