4 PK Mice Cubes - Safe, Clean, Silent, Reusable - IT WORKS!! The Mice Cube is a molded plastic mousetrap with a door that is free-swinging in an inward direction only. Small holes in the door allow the odor of the bait to escape to attract the mouse. The mouse enters by pushing the light-weight door inward, which then closes by gravity, preventing escape. IT WORKS !! You never have to touch the mouse !! Mice Cubes aren't literally cubes, but rather dark black but somewhat translucent rectangles the size of a butter dish (2"x2"x 5.75"). Directions For Use: 1. To bait trap, spread peanut butter on a cracker and place it at the far end of the trap opposite the door. HINT: To help attract mouse to trap, spread a very thin layer of peanut butter on the swinging door - wipe of any excess so peanut scent remains, and the door swings freely. 2. Place trap along wall or in area where mouse droppings are prevalent. Warning: Check trap once or twice a day, as mouse will expire if left in Mice Cube. 3. To release the mouse, take the Mice Cube outside and turn the trap upside down. The door will open and the mouse can exit. 4. Update September 2010: A couple of years ago on a whim I thought I'd try the electronic pet repellers. The brand I bought was Forcefield, but I imagine they all work the same. I have in on each floor of my house, in the pantry on the mid level. I used to have mice all over the house, making a lot of noise in the walls both in the attic and lower level. And droppings in my pantry..ugh! And I hated the idea of just killing them.
I couldn't imagine these little inexpensive plug in gadgets would work, but they have, perfectly! Now there are absolutely no mice, and the raccoons don't try to get into my attic to nest anymore. By the way, if you do get raccoons, a 300 watt bulb and a boombox playing loud music for a day will get them out!
Original review: A few years ago I used a couple of these cubes and quickly caught the mouse that had been cleaning up the crumbs in my kitchen. I took him about a half mile away and easily emptied him out. Problem was the poor little thing had worked up such a sweat he was positively soaking wet. It was a cold snowy day here in the mountains, and he ran at the warmest thing he could see... me! Looked right up at me and tried to run up and into my warm boot. I'm sure he was frozen dead within an hour. But that wasn't quite as bad as the time I used a conventional trap. Late at night I discovered a little mouse in my kitchen and threw him a bit of cheese. He didn't seem afraid of me, and gobbled it up. So I said "ha, gonna getcha now." So then I put the cheese in a conventional trap, set it on the floor and he walked right up like, "thank you Mommy, that was good, and I'll eat this one, too". It was killed instantly and I felt horrible. It was soft and silky, and very dead. Why did I have to take it's life? So I will try this cube again in summer. Else I will have to really harden my heart to use something that kills. The present mice actually run and fight and growl in my bedroom wall, so I don't feel so kindly towards them! (Later edit: This was written before I knew it was raccoons running, fighting and growling!)
