Tools and Hardware Reviews of Mission Computer Desk - Natural

Customer Review: Not too shabby.
Summary: 4 Stars

Overall the mission desk is a good buy. It's not very wide (20 inches) but it is fairly long (47 inches). Keep that in mind when considering what you intend to place on top of the desk. The only real drawback to the desk is the lack of good drawer space. There is one small drawer, but if you have a lot of stuff you'll need to find some alternative storage space. The assembly is fairly easy; it took about 30 minutes to assemble. The solid wood is a nice touch. Tip: Be sure to have a good Philips screwdriver for driving the wood screws when assembling the small drawer. There are predrilled holes, but they're small and a solid screwdriver will make a big difference. Watch out for: some of the preset screws that hold the white sliding rail on the keyboard tray were not screwed in straight and as a result were not flush. These would catch when trying to push/pull the tray. I had to remove one and pound another flat to get it to slide smoothly. Buy the desk on sale to make it a better deal. All in all, a pretty good desk.

Customer Review: Good Table for a Great Price
Summary: 4 Stars

The desk was delivered promtly and in one piece, contrary to the many horror stories i had read about earlier. The instructions are simple and the desk is incredibly well made for the price. I was extremely pleased by the high quality wood used in the piece, not the usual flimsy glued sawdust board. It is very durable and will hold up well no matter what your plans are for it. (except maybe as a prop in a WWF match)

The reason I gave the desk 4 stars and not 5 was due to the crappy quality of the screws, bolt, and fasteners that came with it. As i was assembling the desk i managed to easily snap off the heads of at least 2-3 of the main bolts. I was barely using any pressure and was a little shocked (At first i thought it was my manly brute strength, but that turned out not to be the case). Luckily they include 1-2 extras and I was able to assemble the desk.

Customer Review: Good, small and cheap. But don't put anything big on it.
Summary: 4 Stars

This desk would be perfect for that jr. high / high school kid to do homework on. Right now, I have my 13" Mac Book Pro and a 19" LCD monitor on it (plus two small speakers) and it is CRAMPED. However, I NEVER use keyboard trays for keyboards. So if you don't mind keyboard trays it would be better.

I use my keyboard tray to hold notebooks, DS's, etc.

I bought this at Target 6 years ago and it's still sturdy. A few of the side beams are a little loose and the lower board (in the back) is loose (from putting my feet on it), but it's still holding up.

I would NOT put a CRT monitor or TV on this thing. It's just too thin. I'm thinking of upgrading and when I do, I will pass this to my 6 year old son.

Customer Review: Good for the price
Summary: 4 Stars

A good solid desk that fit perfectly into my son's room. It was fairly easy to put together although the instructions were quite vague. If you have never put this type of furntiure together before this would be a poor one to start with. My only complaint is the packaging. It arrived looking like it had rolled down a hill. The nice UPS driver and I checked it and it looked unharmed but after it was all together I found a small damaged spot and the keyboard runner was slightly bent. I was able to push it back into alignment. I would feel better about recommending this if it were packaged better and the instructions were clearer. However, my son is very happy with it and it is quite sturdy. Plus it is inexpensive so I'll give it 4 stars.

Customer Review: Really happy with desk -but no drawer yet
Summary: 4 Stars

The desk is beautiful. I chose it for the solid wood (rather than laminate) and the wide keyboard tray (also holds the mouse). My mom and I had fun putting the desk together in a couple of hours. We couldn't finish the drawer because on one side panel the metal guide sticks out too far so the drawer won't fit together. I'm waiting for a replacement part, but I'm enjoying the desk with no drawer. We later almost finished putting the hutch (sold separately) together in a couple of hours, but it was missing about 15 pre-drilled starter holes, so we came back to it with a drill. The drilling was easy once we 'marked' the spots with a screwdriver.
