Tools and Hardware Reviews of Mommy I'm Here cl-305 Child Locator with New Alert Feature, BlueCustomer Review: Very pleased warts and all Summary: 5 Stars
I liked this enough to return for more. Yes, metal objects can interfere with radio signals at some locations but it errs on the side of caution. The antenna helps somewhat in these instances. There may be places that cause false triggers but I accept that. I now have one for all my grandchildren. Love it!
Customer Review: WORKS GREAT Summary: 5 Stars
Works great! just dont forget to turn it OFF or the batteries will go fast.
Customer Review: Great idea - too many false alarms... Summary: 2 Stars
Disappointed, we returned this unit for a refund. We bought this unit hoping it would alert us if our toddler strayed too far. While it does so effectively we received numerous false alarms even when our child was only a few feet away. On one outing the false alarms became so frequent that we turned the unit off.
This product is a great idea that with some tweaking could be very useful. We're hoping to see an improved version.
Customer Review: Too short a leash Summary: 2 Stars
Used this locator for our two toddlers during our trip to Mexico. It was supposed to beep if the child is 35 feet away, but it was constantly going off, even when one of them was only a few feet away. Positives are that it did go off when you wanted it to which helped you locate your child. But the constant beeping wasn't worth it.
Customer Review: not what we thought Summary: 1 Stars
We have a very active 2 1/2 year old who loves to run. We have a few trips planned that will involve being in large, crowded spaces and obviously my husband and I were both concerned about her safety (even with both of us watching her closely). Those of you with active toddlers know how fast they can hide! we tried it once and quickly realized the "alert feature" was annoying. 25 feet sounds pretty far. It's not. Have your child stand in front of you and measure it. We were walking through an outdoor event with her in front of us and it kept going off. And the alarm is very high pitched...and yes, very loud. It will work great when you want it to. But it was annoying us and everyone around us. A couple of times she was standing only 2-3 feet in front of us but with objects in between and the alarm would still sound. Finally I just turned it off. The actual company (My Precious Kid) the product is shipped from was very helpful when I e-mailed them about my disappointment with the product. I asked if I could return it and instead get the brown locator (without the alert feature)and they sent it right out. So far we haven't had to use it, but it is peace of mind knowing we can just press the button to hear her. Obviously this product isn't meant to be "instead of" watching your child. But it is so easy for a todddler to get ahead of you and be one aisle over in a department store out of your sight. I've kept it on her shoe even with trips to the local mall. So while the "alert feature" didn't work for our needs, the original product has.
