The benefits of energy efficient fluorescent lamps can not be ignored. These bulbs offer far more WHITE light than mercury vapor (ooo) and they sure are a lot cooler than Halogen. My desk lamp and a few of our outdoor flood lamps use these. All this hullabaloo about mercury is hogwash, we have been throwing long tube fluorescents in the trash for decades and they hold a hundred times more mercury than the small fluorescent lamps.
