Description of MysticMaid G3101MM MysticMop Microfiber Mop and Mop PadThe MysticMop cleans dirt, dust, grease and grime from any floor surface. No solvants, solutions or chemicals needed! With it's patented Tri-Fiber design, the MysticMop eliminates drag and friction commonly associated with other floor mops. The MysticMop actually glides along the floor, wet or dry, on a cushion of air! Long, stiff monofibers let the mop glide along the floor by lifting the pad and allowing increased air flow between stiff monofibers. Then, by pushing down on the mop, the monofibers bend to expose two cleaning microfibers wrapped aournd the core monofiber for superior floor cleaning performance. This patented union of microfibers guarantees an incredible improved abillity to collect dirt, dust or grime. The more you use it, the more you'll appreciate how well it cleans! Beware of imitators. No other cloth is made, cleans or performs like MysticMaid.
Tools and Hardware Reviews of MysticMaid G3101MM MysticMop Microfiber Mop and Mop PadCustomer Review: Great for tall, easily-tired people! Summary: 5 Stars
For a mop, $30+ is pretty steep--almost too steep. But I tried Mystic Mop anyway and I'm SO glad I did! It literally takes me a third of the time--and considerably less elbow grease--to mop my floor. I tire easily due to a health condition, so finding this mop was a godsend.
PROS
1. The mop-head swivels. This means I can get around chair legs and under tables without moving anything. I can also get under radiators and under my couch and dressers. Brilliant!
2. There's no bucket to drag around / refill
3. There's no squeegeeing / wringing out. If you only have one pad, you may want to rinse and hand-wring in the sink after two or three rooms, but this is light-duty wringing--nothing like dealing with a traditional cotton mop. Since I don't want to deal with this, I bought a couple of extra pads and just cycle them through the wash.
3. The mop is feather light, and cuts through gunk with hardly any pushing down or scrubbing. This allows me to mop in a more comfortable position (think pretend-microphone!) when I tire of the standard one, and doesn't leave me exhausted.
4. The handle is AWESOME. Very sturdy, despite being both ultra-light and extra-long. I'm tall (5'10"), so this was key! You can adjust the handle with a twist, and re-tighten it with another twist. Another reviewer had a problem with the handle collapsing when she applied pressure, but I didn't have this problem (maybe she didn't tighten it enough?). I think the mop would be long enough for even taller people than me, maybe up to 6'5" even!
5. The mop collapses and hides away better than other mops
6. Eco-friendly--no harsh cleaners, and no throw-away wipes like with Swiffer, etc.
7. Versatile: can be used dry for dusting or wet for mopping. Also good for windows, supposedly (I haven't tried that yet).
8. It leaves my floors SPOTLESS. Despite using nothing but water, my floors feel and look cleaner than ever!
CONS
1. Price. Even Amazon's price (currently $33) for this mop is triple the price of other mops. In addition, if you really want convenience, you have to spring for extra pads, adding $20-$30 to the price of the mop itself! TOO much for a mop (grumble, grumble)...except that for me, it was worth it. (HINT: I got my pads 50% cheaper at a certain auction site. The guy's shipping price was ultra-low, too--under $2!)
2. You're not supposed to use bleach on the pads. This is inconvenient, because the pads get very dirty and it makes you want to disinfect them. Also, I'm unwilling to wash them with my clothes unless there's bleach in the water. This means I have to do a load just for mystic mop. Also, the pads don't get white when you wash them in the washing machine without bleach. They come out gray, which makes you wonder how clean they are. They do come out white when you wash them in the sink with bar soap, but that's too inconvenient for me...
All-in-all, I'm thrilled with this mop. I will probably end up taking my chances and just using a little bleach in the water (at least enough to disinfect--only takes 1/4 cup) when I do my bathmats. It was between the Mystic Mop and the Enviroclean floor steamer. I have no doubt I made the right choice!
