Over the years I've tried other metal and plastic quick connect parts and never found anything that works as well as the Nelson brass pieces. They require their own washers, so be sure to get a supply of them when you buy the quick connect pieces. These hose quick connectors are the only ones I've found that don't leak and don't wear out in a few months. There is no rubber gasket to dry up or break, but because they are carefully machined, they seal completely - metal on metal. Kind of like the gasket-less faucet design that all better quality faucets use.Customer Review: Nelson brass fixtures last forever

I bought some of the Nelson plastic connectors a few years ago, when I could not find the brass ones. They started cracking and leaking within a year or two. My dad has some of the Nelson brass fittings that are over 50 years old and still work fine. My own brass fixtures work just fine after 10 years.Customer Review: Handy

Best hose/device-coupling gizmo I've ever had!!! Seals well, and very easy to snap/un-snap. Wish I had found something like this long ago; is way better than various plastic types I've used for over 30 years; the plastic ones deteriorate relatively fast. This item appears very durable.
