Tools and Hardware Reviews of ITW Space Bag BRS-59112 Vacuum-Seal Storage Bags, Extra Large, Set of 2Customer Review: Great space savers Summary: 5 Stars
I have purchased several of these and couldn't be happier. The only ones I've had trouble with not holding air are the ones my cat got a hold of because they weren't in a tote. That being said, they are dual purpose; space savers AND cat toys. I'm sure I'll be buying more of these in the future.
Customer Review: Saved space Summary: 5 Stars
We purchased several large size bags for an extended trip. We were able to get twice as much into our suitcases. This is a great product.
Strongly recommend.
Customer Review: great Summary: 5 Stars
amazing how a large comforter can fit in a little bag. These are good quality bags. Easy to use with a standard vac hose.
Customer Review: Works as decribed--but follow the directions and beware of mold. Summary: 4 Stars
I bought these bags to make some room in a guest bedroom closet. The closet was overtaken by the fluffiness of pillows and comforters, and these bags seemed a good solution.
I've given the bags 4 stars because they do what they promise, but not perfectly. For example, I have yet to achieve that perfectly rectangular, flattened shape that is shown on the package. Getting close to that image requires at least one other person sort of guiding the shape of the thing as you vacuum out the air. For the price, this is maybe not such a big deal, except that if you envision stacking or lining up your flattened bedding, it won't be quite as flat and pretty as in the image.
The directions do warn that any items put in the bags should be COMPLETELY dry. I THOUGHT my pillows were completely dried when I put them in the bag. I washed them before storing them, and dried them on high heat for a long time. Unfortunately, perhaps because of the summer humidity, after a week, I see little gray mold spots all over them. So those four pillows will have to be tossed--that's one way to save space.
Note: The medium-sized bags DO flatten out into nice little, rectangular bundles.
Customer Review: These worked better than I expected Summary: 4 Stars
After reading many reviews saying these things didn't work, I was hesitant to buy them. But I was desperate to consolidate 3 large boxes of quilts and blankets that were stored in my basement, so I decided to give the Space Bags a try. I didn't have any trouble keeping the bags sealed at all. They've been sealed for over a month now with no leaks. I would recommend that after you seal the bag, you put your ear down to it to see if you can hear any air leaking. At first I heard air leaking out and realized I hadn't secured the zipper closure all the way across. After realizing that, these bags worked perfectly. Three huge boxes were condensed into 2 Space Bags in my basement.
