I was glad to see that the fabric was soft and not in the least bit crinkly, but it was nearly impossible to put on. It is a thicker than average mattress, but the elastic band is so tight that I popped the seam a little just to get it over the bed. The fabric itself stretched fine--it was only the elastic that made it such a struggle to put on. It kept the mattress completely dry, though.Customer Review: "melted" in the wash
