Great mitts, contoured to fit hands enabling easy grip, use of opposable thumb and control with the other fingers. The silver lining acts as a shield. Some other designs of mitts available make hands into ungainly paws that cannot properly hold onto items. Make sure the mitts are dry when handling hot items (if wet, the heat soaks through and burns hands and fabric). My mitts have lasted for years, but eventually need replacing.
