Description of Nu-Flare 77R92L Ultrabright Luxeon LED Aluminum Flashlight, Gumetal, 210 LumensNu-Flare is one of the best quality compact flashlight using the 3rd generation Luxeon Rebel 90 LED. The new Rebel 90 has improved battery efficiency, generates less heat, and higher brightness than the Luxeon V. It has the tactical tail switch and a patented zoom focus from 1X to 4X. You should notice that this is the one of the first flashlight on market offer the zoom head. This one is small in very compact size. We saw one having a big head of 2 inches diameter. Warning: There are some non-Luxeon made counterfeit 1W, 3W, and sometimes even claim 8 Watt LED on the market. They are half as bright at best and have a bluish color beam. Their light will be greatly reduced after just few hours of use due to poor quality and poor heatsink property. They are much cheaper but they are definitely not the quality of Luxeon. They are usually shipped out from Hong Kong. They are also subject to patent infringement problems. - Long battery life - 13 hours total (6 hours at maximum output). It will output less light after 6 hours but still fairly bright until it the batteries run out. - Accessory: Carrying Strap - Water resistant, very durable aluminum housing - Up to 50,000 hours LED life - Very well focus adjustable zoom beam (1x to 4x). It is very good for police work. Manufactured in ISO 9000 certified factory with latest CNC machines and Surface Mount Technology robotic equipments. Tools and Hardware Reviews of Nu-Flare 77R92L Ultrabright Luxeon LED Aluminum Flashlight, Gumetal, 210 LumensCustomer Review: Great Little Light... With some KICK! Summary: 5 Stars
Quick overview: This is a very good little light. Its major benifit is it's size, brightness, and ability to zoom. Its major drawback (for it's over all package) is the battery life. Quality and durability are great!
More Detail, Brightness: I was impressed by the brightness. I have been "into" flashlights for a long time, just going with the guy thing. Ooo shinny! This is the brightest I have owned yet. You will not find a comparable item in the stores currently. Northerntool, harborfreight, Gandermountain, FarmandFleet, Cabela's... Ect. I have been to all of them and have found (at best) 150ish lumen comparable lights, at twice the price. I work in a metal foundry and it is dark, dusty and terrible for lighting conditions. That being said, I rarely need the full power this can produce. The nice part is, I can zoom the light out about half way, and get a very even and still very bright light. It's still bright when you zoom it all the way out, but it begins to get the dim spot in the middle. I have a 3W LED Maglight with 4 D cell batteries. This light is "about" as bright for general use. It has a larger head and is more focusable. Side by side, the maglight lags behind in size, brightness, and weight. It obviously has better battery life. That should give you something to compair.
Battery Life: I bought this light at the same time a some rechargeable CR123A batteries. On an 8hr work day, If I use the light only several times, it will be fine for the day. If I am working on a project where I need it to be on nearly the whole day, I will drain the batteries in about 6 hours. For the work I do this is ok. I can go to my toolbox and change the batteries out for the ones on the charger and keep going. For someone who is going camping with this, it may be a consern. I would not want to be in the woods at night and have my flashlight needing batteries changed several times in a weekend.
Size: I mentioned a Maglight I have for comparison. The Nu-Flare 77R92L is much smaller, lighter and easier to carry. I keep mine in the pocket of my work shirt. When I am bogged down by a large tool bag, uniform, safety equipment, ect... I really like having a small light that has this much punch.
Comparing to other lights of its caliber, I am suprized this light only mentions the use of the 2 CR123A batteries. Other lights mention being able to use 2 of those OR 1 18650 battery. I am going to contact the manufacture before using anything different, but it "may" give you a little extra life.
Its also nice it is made in the US. I don't get all bent out of shape when something is not now days. It seems enough US companies are "farming" out work to other countries that its hard to get upset.
ALL and ALL: My Nu-Flare flashlight has become a very valued addition to my tools. I use it 5-6 days a week and have been very happy. It puts up to being dropped, its well sealed, I really like the zoom, it stays pretty bright all the way up to a dead battery. It seems to be a good value. It may not be perfect for everyone's situation or use, but I imagine it would work really well for most people.
