This is the coolest sink strainer I have ever seen. I have a newer undermount sink, and the metal rim of the strainer matches and seats perfectly in my sink. I have previously had the standard metal strainer with a stopper. The stopper would always end up in the closed position--annoying. My DH would regularly remove the strainer b/c of this, and nothing would be strained.
This Oxo strainer doesn't have the same drawbacks and is much easier to clean. I do recommend rinsing off the underside of the rim as it gets slimy. This strainer is innovative and gets two thumbs up. Smart buy.

You know, I gotta say this is a damn good strainer. I can't believe I'm even dedicating time to this - but a good product is a good product.
I used to have one of the wire mesh dealies and it stunk: gunk would get caught in there, and would have slam it against the trash to just begin to clean it.
I recently washed pans with pasta and oatmeal and had the water running. The OXO strainer never stopped up and took seconds to clean afterwards. The edges fit cleanly to prevent food stuffs from creeping under and into my drain.
Solid. Worth the extra $$$.

The only thing to mar the perfection of this is that the metal ring on the outside could be wider. Every once in a while because it's not big enough, the edge will be caught on something and the entire thing will flip if all the water hasn't drained yet. Other than that, I really love the silicon material of this product.
After using this for a month, I did notice one thing about the item and that between the top metal ring and the silicon, pink mildew is starting to build up. So all you need to do is brush it off w/ a brush or so to keep it clean.

Don't think about it, just buy it!
Seriously, this little strainer is that good.
No more pierced fingers from metal mesh strainers coming out of the edges. No more trying to scrape mashed goop out of those little fine-mesh holes.
This strainer works great and looks great. When it's time to empty it, just walk it to the trash can and "pop" it inside out. Bingo! It's completely empty. A quick rinse and you're all set. You'll never again have to take a brush to a disgusting fine-mesh metal strainer.

I bought this strainer at Bed Bath and Beyond for $5.99. It was definately a great find. First, it looks much more modernized than the average steel strainer. It actually adds a touch of class to your sink. It's so simple to use- once the strainer is full, all you have to do is bring it the garbage, turn it upside down, and push the center piece in. The silicone lining pushes all the collected particles right in the garbage. I love OXO products and this one is a favorite to my collection!
