Tools and Hardware Reviews of OXO SteeL Soap Squirting Dish BrushCustomer Review: Very Pleased! Summary: 4 Stars
We just ordered this brush after our other OXO (different model) came apart. the internal soap pump mechanism just deteriorated. so far - we love this one! the 'leaky soap' syndrome is no longer. soap stays in no matter the angel which is nice and we appreciate in this economy, literally money down the drain right :) I would also like to point out that the bristles on the steel model seem a bit sturdier.
the feel of the brush and size is fine for both of us. I also feel like the button for dispensing is a bit easier to avoid while using the brush. with the other model it seemed like no matter what I did i was constantly pushing the dispenser (more waste again).
the ONLY reason i haven't given this a five star rating is the soap reservoir is a bit smaller than the plain model. that said, I'd rather a smaller res. with no soap leaking out!
side note - it fits perfectly in the OX steel kitchen caddy thingy - where you put your sponge and brushes.
Customer Review: Does the job [and lasts a long time] Summary: 4 Stars
Edit to Original Review (July 2010):
1 1/2 years of daily use this brush still looks like new! I have had no need to buy another replacement head. There are times when I applied it to a pan that was still a bit too hot and the brush did not melt. I have scrapped many stainless steel pans with the plastic edge scraper and it has still retained it's edge. The seal to the soap chamber still seals and doesn't leak. This is an amazing brush!!
Original Review (December 2008):
This hearty brush does the job!
- The bristles are stiff and easily scrape most everything off pots and pans.
- It is easy to fill and holds a good amount of soap so I don't need to refill it too often.
- The soap dispenses in just the right amount for my use and is comfortable in the hand.
I've had it for several months and with daily use it shows no wear so far. It appears that it will last a long time.
Customer Review: Finally a decent soap dispensing brush Summary: 4 Stars
Like many, I have used every variety of soap dispensing kitchen brushes and they all end up leaking and if they don't the brush gives out eventually. While some have complained about this brush leaking, that may actually be operator error. My brush doesn't leak. Soap only come out when you push the button and when you push it, it squirts out (better than any other I have used). It is important that when you fill it up (you actually pull the button out to fill)that you make sure you have it sealed all the way back closed. If you don't, of course it would leak. The stainless steal look comes from the fact that it is actually made of stainless steel. It does have a rather bulky head, but other than that is a home run from OXO. Replacement brushes are a great addition, and the bristles are soft enough to not scratch but have enough resistance to get most stuck on food off (good balance).
Customer Review: My sink has never been so clean Summary: 4 Stars
This thing is just flat wonderful and overall would recommend it. I was concerned whether the bristles would either be too soft to clean properly or too hard to scratch the surface of my Corian sink; they are just right. My sink is now clean all the time because it is so practical to have the ultra diswashing liquid in the handle. Also, I use my paring knives all the time and have them on the counter. Now I can wash them thoroughly after each use with this brush. The reason that I took off a star is due to the ergonomics of this tool; in other words, that part isn't too great. The handle is fairly thick and unwieldly for persons with small hands. In addition, the button that dispenses the soap works fairly hard; fortunately, nothing leaks in the wrong place. The price is comparable to what these sell for in the outlets.
Customer Review: Never use a sponge or rag again! Summary: 4 Stars
It fits into your hand like a tool. This brush was made for washing stuff. It isn't some cheap plastic either. It has heft to it. The soap tube is deep and can hold a LOT of soap. The soap dispenser button is easily accessible and easy to push. The brushes will tear through most household food easily without a fuss.
I've used it on pots, pans, dishes, glasses, cat food bowls, and more. It just keeps on scrubbing.
One feature that might be missed is the removable brush. Yes, if the brush becomes to soiled...or even breaks...it can be replaced without replacing the entire unit. The brush just slides off with the press of a button.
This is my second and I will never go back to sponges or rags again. Highly recommend.
