I have tried a lot of different types of containers for my kitchen scapes, but I use this without a liner and use it until full. I have not even noticed the slightest hint of odor from the variety of items that I put into it. I am saving plastic from the bags I use and no fruit flies or nats.
Overall, wished I needed another one.
