Customer Review: Best choice for open spaces (otherwise use ceramic heater)

The Infrared style of heater is great for really big rooms or rooms that can't be fully closed off because it heats you directly without heating the room. This is not only one of the less expensive ones, but is actually better than more expensive ones (like the one that looks like a fan because it uses a fancy dish to focus the heat). The power consumption is low enough that you may be able to use 2 on the same circuit, and on the low setting that only lights up one of the two rods, you could easily put 3 on the same circuit. Since it only heats you on one side, you will probably want to use 2 or 3 at a time, or combine it with another type of heater.
This product works well when used together with a ceramic heater in larger rooms. The ceramic heater will raise the air into the 60's, and this will let you feel like it's 75 or warmer depending on how close you get to it.

One of the unique features of this space heater is that it's power settings are 400W and 800W. Most other space heaters are like 750W and 1500W, so this is about 50% less power. With the heating bills these days, saving power adds up in saved $. Even though it uses half the power, this thing really does heat up my room. It's not a great heat up your whole house type of thing since heat rises and will leave the area, but in confined areas like my office, or my bathroom/bedroom, it works like a charm.
Even in the living room, if I put it near me it'll keep me warm, but it won't heat up the whole room since all the heat leaves and floats up stairs. I only have to turn it on for like 15-20min in my office, and it gets REALLY warm in here that I just turn it off and it stays warm for hours.
I highly recommend getting one of these or more! ( I own 2 )

Great product for the money...always cold here in this condo, so this heater warms me up and is inexpensive enough that if it does wear out, it doesn't empty your pockets at the same time; heats surrounding area where you are residing but not an entire room, but that is what I really wanted, since other family members are never as cold as I am.
Also, easy to clean, has legs that keep it up off of tables so essentially is self contained and prevents wood etc or wherever you place it from getting too hot. You are not blowing dust or dirt that normally accumulates on fans since it is heated by infrared quartz elements [infrared has an added health benefit] and has an automatic shut off when not sitting on a flat surface so there is no worry of fires. Lightweight and easily portable, because the outside housing is never hot. I would highly recommend this product!

I bought this portable heater based on all the reviews I have read. Prior to this , I had a cheap Patton heater from Target. It distributed warm heat and was extremely loud. My review is based on a week of using the Optimus H-5210. It is portable and very light weight. It is very very quiet. Heat is distributed evenly throughout my den. I use the 400 watts most of the time and keep it on all day. Like others have said, you have to look carefully when you turn the knob to know whether it is at 400 or 800 watts when you first turn it on. This is not an issue with me.
Upadte ---This is the BEST portable heater. I have used it daily from an hour to 24 hours and it works great. I don't notice that it is even turned on because there is absolutely no noise. The heating is evenly distributed. I carry it from the bedroom to the living room.

Normally I don't bother to review products I buy, but I love this little heater so much I decided to do it! It puts out some serious heat AND DOESN'T BLOW THE FUSES! It uses almost half the energy of other space heaters and works way better. My son and I's room is in the attic, so it is rather drafty. This heater keeps our sleeping area toasty (our room measures 12x30). Do not expect it to heat an entire room, that's not really its purpose. It is virtually silent except for a very quiet buzzing when you first turn it on while its warming up. I've left it on while sleeping because I feel this is a safe enough product that I can do that with. It feels like sitting in front of a fireplace or in the sun, it doesn't dry out the air. All in all I couldn't ask for a better product.
