Tools and Hardware Reviews of Daylight Projection ClockCustomer Review: Very nice but... Summary: 4 Stars
It seems to be a great product but it does have some issues. 1st it is way too bright for bedroom use. It doesn't dim enough with its auto dimming feature. Also the focus / optics were a little off and can't fully focus the projected image. I have it focused as best as it will offer, but my older Oregon Scientific is much much clearer and dims enough to let me sleep. Also the atomic clock feature has a weird time zone setting. I cant seem to get the setting to work properly .It will properly set the time and a day later will change it by 1 hour. The manual is useless in this regard as it doesn't mention anything about this. I have therefore disabled the radio / atomic clock feature and set the clock manually. Despite its issues you will love the design and capabilities of this product.
Customer Review: Sleek, modern, and BRIGHT Summary: 4 Stars
The clock does exactly what it says it does. The time can be set manually or via an NIST atomic clock via radio waves. The design is very unique, but I like it. The display is clear and readable from a good 20' away.
The projection is downright amazing. It is plainly visible during daylight hours and quite illuminating during the night. Sensitive sleepers might be bothered by the display, even though it dims the brightness in a darkened room. Fortunately, the switch to disable the projection is easily accessible on the underside of the clock.
My only complaint about the clock is that the brightness is not configurable -- it's too bright for my tastes at night.
Customer Review: nice clock Summary: 4 Stars
beautiful clock, and better than the old model it contains a battery backup in case of power cuts will not need to reprogram and bigger than old model
Customer Review: Atomic clock with time zone will always be wrong Summary: 3 Stars
I actually love this projection clock except for one thing, keeping time with the atomic clock and time zone will work for about a day and then the time will be off by one hour, two hours ,three? Who knows because it will keep changing nightly no mater what time zone you use! The funny thing is that I bought my first one over three years ago and Oregon Scientific has never fixed the problem years later, after many complaints! I have purchased five of these clocks as presents over the last 3 years and they all have this problem. The only reason I keep buying them is because everyone that comes to my house love it! Yes, you can turn off the atomic clock and manually set the time and it will keep the correct time (or at least until daylight savings rolls around).
Customer Review: great, but no battery backup Summary: 3 Stars
without a battery backup, you have to go through the many steps to reset this. Unlike a standard electric clock, this one requires you to reset month, day, year, military time or not, hours, minute, plus various display options every time you have a power hiccup. Also, it doesn't notify you that there's been an interruption in power; no blicking of the projected time or anything to warn you as you're climbing wearily into bed that you need to attend to this. Ultimately, we have a battery analog clock in the room that we rely upon for alarm...this one just makes it easier to see the time (projected to the ceiling) in the middle of the night. I wouldn't rely on it for a primary alarm clock.
