There are a few places where field mice would always show up, despite my best efforts. There were tell-tale signs, so I would put out a "Better Mousetrap" (which I also HIGHLY recommend - Better Mousetrap 6 Pack), and I would catch maybe 2-3 mice in the next day, and that would be it for a while.
It's been about 3 months since I got these devices. In my case, I went overboard and got 6 for my house - 3 upstairs and 3 downstairs. I also have one strategically located near where I think they might be getting in.
Ever since, I have had absolutely sign of mice since. So, I believe these devices work - but then again, it's difficult to prove!
I will echo too what another user wrote - the relays inside these things "click" about as loud as a wall clock with a second hand, so if you put one near where you might sit queitly - you will definitely hear the small click sound. It's not super loud or obnoxious - but it's also not "quiet" either. So, you may want to place these in places where that sound won't be heard or where you won't care.
So bottom line, I'm somewhat convinced these worked because for the first time in perhaps 6 years, I have absolutely no sign of mice and it's been about 3 months. So, you may want to give these a try!

I brought this P3 International P7816 Attack Wave Ultrasonic Pestrepeller a week ago. I read the reviews and a lot of people made very great comments about this product. The only thing i wasn't sure if this device work outdoors. I don't see anyone use this device for outdoor or any of the reviews on outdoor use. I took a risk and brought it. For my suprise it work!! To be honest, i have mices and rats in my backyard keep eating my fruits. i feed them many type of rat poision food, but it wasn't effective at all.. I put this outside under a shaded area there is no rain can get in.. I see it improvement within 3 days.. I didn't believe it! This thing really works like a charm. I really highly recommend this device if you have rodents problem eating your fruits away. I know i read the instruction that you can't use outdoor. i didn't know why beside obvious reason of the water getting in the device. All you need to do put in a shaded area where there will be no rain or water get in the device. I'm so happy i don't have to worry about my fruits from my garden been eaten all the time.Customer Review: SKIP This product if you have PETS

I purchased 3 of these items. One was for our upper level, one was for our lower level and one was for our barn. I plugged in one unit upstairs and my dogs ran out of the room and were clawing at the door to get outside. This was VERY unusual behavior for them. I took them outside and they appeared to be fine during our walk. Then I opened the door to our home and neither dog would enter. I had to drag them inside. I immediately unplugged the unit and after about 15 minutes they settled down.
Later this evening, I took the unit to our lower level and plugged it in. We went downstairs and our pets once again freaked out. I unplugged it. They settled down. I plugged it in again, they both jumped off their beds and ran upstairs and tried to get out the door. ENOUGH! Don't know how effective it is against mice ... but it sure works on Dogs (Dalmatian and Chow/Golden Lab Mix) Needless to say, I am returning 2 of my 3 units. I will use the remaining unit in our storage barn where our pets do not go.

I did not believe any of the ultrasonic pest repellers would work, but eventfully convince by their ads, then I purchased. But none of those worked, I read a review about this one. So I gave it a try, not cost a lot anyway.
Well, I put this one in my kitchen (I had seen few roaches running around that area once a while), in around one week. I did not see anymore roaches in the kitchen any more. It seemed all the roaches gone.
I did not know if this one was doing its job, all I know is: after I put this one in my kitchen, I do not see any more roaches running around. So, I think it works. For mice, I do not know, because I do not have any mice in my house. It works for roaches, if it works for other insects, I do not know.
This is the second one I purchased. It works for me so that I purchased one for my tenant upstairs.
Yes, it makes a small noise. It is every small. If I do not pay attention I hardly able to hear it.

(I have had this item for about a year) Well, after numerous attempts to rid my kitchen of mice, this device has been my miracle cure!!! I bought it without high hopes. I was starting to think that I was going to be dealing with sticky traps, and snap traps...forever. Although I love having a clean kitchen, bleaching it multiple times a week was a bit much!!! After I plugged this in, I have had not one (I hope I'm not jinxing myself!)sign of an intruder! Please know that I did also invest in LOTS of steel wool (which didn't solve the problem alone) and peppermint oil (which makes my kitchen smell very good!). The combo of the ultrasonic pestrepeller, and the oil have made my house much more enjoyable for me to be in!!! I need not worry anymore! Yes, there is a faint clicking sound from the pestrepeller, but it is TOTALLY tolerable! (Like a clock ticking.) For the benefit of being rodent free, a little ticking is more than inviting!!!
