Customer Review: Well Built, Reasonable Value, Bit Heavy But I Do Use Them
Summary: 3 Stars

This item mostly works well though it picks up radio interference from my tractor which my regular radio rejects well. Radio reception is lousy as noted elsewhere - it seems to be a very cheap radio despite the large antenna.

Also, it is quite heavy with the 2 batteries installed (not included either) but you get a lot of battery life.

The operation is a bit odd with the external jack - basically the radio is always on but you just turn the volume to minimum at which point you can hear your MP3 player or whatever but the volume control is still controlled from the MP3 player. It would have been nice to control volume using the hearing protector volume control (nice and chunky, usable with work gloves) instead of the more delicate MP3 player's volume (buried in a pocket and too small for gloved hands).

However, the plus is you can hear the radio and the external signal at the same time, which could be a plus under certain circumstances.

In future I would buy a set of normal hearing protectors and just drill a small hole and epoxy head phone speakers inside the cups - that would be cheaper, lighter and I think would work just fine.

One final point - these are NOT noise canceling - they do not actively reduce noise coming in, they just block and absorb it (and they do that fine).

Customer Review: Worth buying when on sale
Summary: 3 Stars

Best Headphones with built in am/fm radio. I got a deal on these; only around $25. Usually around $60-$70. However, these are rather uncomfortable when wearing a long time. Puts a lot of pressure on the ears. But better than Sony's or Lennox Sound or any other headphones w/lousy reception. Also, 180 hrs. battery life is almost 4 times as much as you'd get from a walkman. If you listen to the phones 2 hrs.a day, you don't have to change the 2 aa batts for 3 months. The battery compartment is flawed--there is space on each side of the batteries, which means the batteries aren't in tight, so they can pop loose at any time, cutting the power out. Broke after 13 1/2 months of use(sound cut out) I did drop a couple times playing basketball, but another reviewer had theirs break around 13 months too.

Pros: -Long Battery life
-Good reception
-Good volume max capacity

Cons: -Battery compartment flaw(loose batts can pop loose sometimes)
-Lack of comfort wearing a long time
-Broke after 13 1/2 months.

Customer Review: Disappointed with reception and durability
Summary: 2 Stars

I have used my headset almost daily for a year and would gladly welcome a better product with the same features. The reception is poor compared to any other radio I use. It's fine for strong stations but cannot pull in others that I routinely listen to.

Then, in the 13th month the stereo started to cut out intermittently (the non-radio side has no sound). The company offers a 12 month warranty and their rep declined to extend the warranty, which I find discouraging.

I'd like to see a quality product offered by another company. It appears to be a very simple feature set.

Update: After paying for a repair to restore stereo to the headset the on/off switch appears to have failed after about 18 months of use. So now I have hearing protection without any audio. I am waiting to see if the manuf. will help me this time and would be happy to update this review again if the situation improves. But I still say that there is room for a more durable product here.

Ladies & Gentlemen, save your money and don't bother to buy these if you want reliability.
Shortly after I purchased these, the electronics quit working. It was very static and would shut off for no reason. This situation got very frequent over two weeks and finally quit working totally. All functions were affected: am/fm radio and the input jack. The batteries were not the problem. Also cheap flexable plastic battery door that broke completely off because of cool weather making it stiff.
I finally had to toss them in the trash can because was totally unuseable. I gave them 2 stars because they do block sound very well and fit your head comfortably.

Customer Review: A very good product

After reading a few reviews I wasn't so sure about this headset. I guessed correctly that the people who had poor radio reception may live in areas that have a high level of airwave interference. My headset has great reception for both am and fm. I haven't figured out yet how to use my ipod with it. I think I need to buy an adapter, similar to a car adapter.
Now I can cruise around with my lawnmower and listen to the radio , very nice.....it keeps my ears warm too

..UPDATE..after coming back I see I made a mistake with my star rating...it should be 5 stars
