Tools and Hardware Reviews of Pike Street 100-Percent Egyptian Cotton 725-Gram 6-Piece Towel Set, BluestoneCustomer Review: Fluffy and soft but not absorbent Summary: 3 Stars
My girlfriend and I bought these towels in bluestone along with a bunch of other bath accessories for our new apartment.
We've had these towels for a week and they are very soft and have not lost any colour (as some of the other reviews claim). However, they are not very absorbent. My old towels which come from target soak up a lot more water than these do.
One lady mentioned the following washing instructions for the towels:
Wash in warm water without adding any fabric softener.
This seems to have helped because after the second washing the towels did get more absorbent.
Other reviews mention loose fibres on the towels. We did not notice any. The stitching seems to be solid as the towels remained intact in our commercial washer and dryer on a fast cycle.
Customer Review: Good but with flaws Summary: 3 Stars
I bought a couple sets of these for my wife for Christmas and when we took them out they were in good shape. A few hours after them sitting on the table I looked very closely at the threading and one section was unraveling. I was disappointed but we kept it and it hasn't kept unraveling but I fear one day it will.
This thing beads water and doesn't necessarily soak it in. It feels a lot different than some of the other towels we own. I am used to throwing a towel around me after getting out of the shower and having the water instantly get soaked in. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, the water doesn't dump all over the ground but it is a bit different. I would recommend this for a cheap set of towels and you won't be dissapointed if they get messed up after a little while since they are inexpensive.
Customer Review: Just OK Summary: 3 Stars
I bought three sets of these towels, in different colors. While there were no glaring flaws, right out of the bag there were a number (perhaps 2-5) of longer "mis-weaves" or "thread tails" on most of them. I fear that if I were to cut these shaggy bits off, it could affect the overall wear of the towels, but to leave them on looks untidy. If I were to buy towels in a store, I could go through the stack and pick out ones which had few or no flaws, and if you're picky like me you might well wish to do that rather than buy these towels. Otherwise, they seem to be fine, although they do shed a great deal of lint in the dryer everytime I wash them-- but that may be normal for this type of towel?
Customer Review: $25 YES, any higher NO Summary: 3 Stars
If these towels were not so cheap I would probably be upset about the quality. I have three sets. Two were purchased at the same time and another a year later. I have one set that is nice a fluffy, another one is limp and in need of some loving, and one set should have been returned. So there seems to be a quality control issue. The towels will loose there luster, but the fading has seemed to stabilize. So far the towels have held up well, no fraying. I do find them absorbent (TIP: Do not use fabric softener). In fact I was able to dry myself off with one hand towel.
PRO: Inexpensive, absorbent, have held up over time.
CON: Fading, quality control.
Customer Review: Good Value, reasonable quality Summary: 3 Stars
These towels are nice and thick as well as being very absorbent. They are also a good size -- larger than many in this price range. The only con is that the binding along the edges is not sewn on very well or is too close to the edge, so you get a bit of fraying, even on the first washing before you use the towels. Be sure you wash them without anything you don't want to get covered with cotton bits -- they shed a lot when you first wash them.
