Tools and Hardware Reviews of Pike Street 100-Percent Egyptian Cotton 725-Gram 6-Piece Towel Set, CreamCustomer Review: very pleased Summary: 4 Stars
I am very pleased with my latest purchase of the Egyptian Cotton Towel Set from Amazon. It is very large and a beautiful color. Absorbent too.
Customer Review: Are the towels seconds? Summary: 3 Stars
I placed 5 orders at twenty bucks each, for a total of 10 sets of towels (that's ten bucks a set). While the towels seemed soft, I returned them. The problems:
1) TERRIBLE SMELL. The towels had a strong, terrible petro-chemical smell to them. My husband thought it was fertilizer. I washed them several times with detergent using a vinegar rinse. The smell subsided but it was still there.
2) POOR FINISH. The finish, fabric, and edges are not a quality job. There are tufts of fabric in most towels, and loose weaves in the middle. If you pull or snip the thread, you are effectively creating a hole in the towel. (See other reviews reporting holes & shreds after use.)
3) TOO MANY FLAWS. I had 10 sets of towels -- of these, nine bath towels had some flaw that was noticeable after washing & drying. The flaws are initially hard to spot when the towels arrive because they are flat and densely packed. But after wash and inspection, flaws are noticeable. (And I didn't have to look very hard.)
I was left with the impression that the towels are seconds.
Customer Review: NOT OVERLY IMPRESSED Summary: 3 Stars
The towels feel great but after washing them before use one wash cloth and one hand towel came out of the dryer with frayed edges. The quality in workmanship is not that good....so I don't expect them to hold up when washed and dried over a period of time. I purchased them for my granddaughter for her college dorm so I wasn't too upset....as the price was fairly inexpensive. You get what you pay for is probably the best description of this purchase.
Customer Review: Pike Street Towels Summary: 3 Stars
We bought these towel sets to replace some older Vera Wang towel sets. The bottom line is that they were thinner and less absorbant than the Vera Wangs which have had a number of years of use. Unfortunately we could not return the Pike Street sets because we had washed them. We, instead, gave them to our youngest son whose a needy theatre student in graduate school.
Customer Review: disappointed Summary: 3 Stars
I washed the towel set immediately upon receipt. The towels were still nice and fluffy but there were a lot of loose threads at the edges. This leaves me with the impression they are not well made. I wonder how well they will hold up with multiple washings.
