This is a quality item. You can find a German "near twin" at
Sur La Table for $59 plus tax and about $11.50 shipping costs.
Amazon offers this stool for only $26 with free shipping and
no tax, at least not in California. Why pay more?
Williams Sonoma offers another German alternative
in tempting colors like green, blue, and red.
It's $45 plus tax and shipping costs. Ultimately,
if you are like me, you will LOVE the value of this
thrifty alternative more than "hip" colors.
In contrast to some reviews already on file,
I have had no problems opening or shutting the stool.
No ouchies at all! I am an older woman with a mature figure,
but I feel safe and secure on this stool, don't need a high back
when I access the upper shelves of closets and cabinets.
The stool pulls out and puts back with ease. Best of all,
the closed unit stores upright with a width of less than
three inches. My laundry room is literally a closet,
and this tucks right in; I no longer have to attach my prior
(unfoldable stool) on the wall above the washer and dryer.
It was like storing a bicycle or surfboard in an already
cramped space. Bonus: The veneer of white enamel paint
mimics the utilitarian look of a "vintage" laundry room
and sink faucets. That's cute and fun enough for me.
Such a B-A-R-G-A-I-N !
