This lamp is much nicer than I expected. I was worried that for the price, it would be flimsy and we needed a quality lamp (I'd been looking for months). I have seen similar lamps for $350-$1000 and frankly, would have bought one of them, except all reviews mentioned this lamp as being the brightest and that's what we also needed. It is solid, heavy, shiny chrome and very clean and modern looking (the picture makes it look like it has a weird cutout or shape on the light dome, but it doesn't, it's solid all the way around). The base is nice and heavy and the cord is clear/silverish. We are using it as a corner lamp in a Modern themed room with no overhead lighting and it lights up the whole room (which I love) or can be dimmed (which my husband loves). Each of the 26 watt CFL bulbs is equivalent to a regular 100 watt bulb so you can imagine how bright it can be :-) It is seriously a nice decor piece even during the day. Overall, a solid, Great looking bargain. I bought it on sale at Amazon for $149 and it shipped through Lamps Plus with no hassles. I wold buy another one in a heartbeat.
