Tools and Hardware Reviews of Safety Siren Pro Series HS71512 3 Radon Gas DetectorCustomer Review: I recommend highly! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought 2 of these because I did not trust the accuracy and I figured with 2 I could see if they gave the same reading. To my surprise, they did within less then 1. My basement is slightly higher then it should be (rangers from 4 to 8 depending on the weather) so I put one at my daughters house because she had a new baby and was concerned. It read 26! I then brought the second one over and the same thing. She had a radon company come in and they said it was correct. She had a Radon system put in and now is always less then 1. I keep one at her house in and one at mine and we both feel much better always knowing what we cannot see. I guess its time to try there carbon monoxide detector also it they have one.
Customer Review: Great Radon Gas Detector! Summary: 5 Stars
I looked into getting one of the kits that you have to send in to a lab for the results, but after reading the reviews about this radon detector, I ordered it instead. I agree with the other positive reviews it got. It is very easy to set up and use, and the results I believe are accurate. We got a variety of readings depending on which room of our basement we put the detector - so now we are working with a contractor to install a radon gas mitigation system in our home (since the highest reading we had was around 200 picocuries per liter, or pCi/L, way over the maximum 4 pCi/L advised by the EPA.) Now we are lending this unit out to family & friends in our area. I recommend this unit.
Customer Review: Believe it really works Summary: 5 Stars
The documentation I got with my house showed a radon reading above 50.0 before a mitigation system was installed and < 4.0 after it was installed.
The radon mitigation fan broke and I falsely thought painting / sealing the basement floor (years ago) would stop the radon.
After plugging in this unit I got a reading (after a few days) around 10.0 and it went up day by day. I replaced the mitigation fan when the reading was around 20.0. This unit then showed the level go down each day (took about 2 weeks to get to safe level).
Highly recommend this considering you can spend $15.00 a pop on those radon testers you mail in. One I used said I had a safe level.
Customer Review: Confirmed By Test Summary: 5 Stars
We purchased this unit and got high readings so we contacted a radon test company. They ran their test and the numbers came in right on the button with our Safety Siren Pro Series 3. Mitigation was done and a follow up test was performed by the testing company. (Testing and mitigation were done by two separate companies to avoid any conflicts) Now our always-on Safety Siren Detector provides a consistent way to visually check the current readings and also will provide an audible warning if the levels ever get too high again. Our mitigation system has only a visual method of checking operation and it's nice to have the audible backup of the Safety Siren.
Customer Review: Very Accurate and easy to use. Summary: 5 Stars
We used this tester to examine houses that we were looking to buy. It was very accurate in that I compared the results from this detector to actual lab tests (I hid the lab test kits for confirmation since I could not be sure the homeowner would move or unplug the electronic test). The readings were within .1 of each other in each case. After we purchased our home, I put this detector in my parents house on a whim. It turned out that they had high levels for the Dallas Tx area (11 to 12). We would have never known if I had not had this detector. They installed a mitigation system, and this detector showed the levels going down to below 2.
