After buying a cheap carbon test and receiving a high report (16.8), I wanted a second test. I justified the extra money because I wanted a second opinion and I wanted to have an ongoing monitoring system in the event I needed to have a mitigation system installed.
It came ahead of schedule and in 24 hours, I had a second test complete. I moved it around my basement and found different levels, but all were above the magic number (4). I've loaned it to my Dad and he's checking his. I'd buy it again and without hesitation. I'd still do the initial test with the cheap carbon option, but if it was high, I'd go this route.

Two years ago I built a new home and was concerned about radon levels. I did not like the radon test kits because they only give you a single reading and have to be sent to a lab for analysis. The Safety Siren gives continuous readings both short term and long term. My levels were high and required radon mitigation. After mitigation, the detector showed much lower levels of radon. I continue to monitor the levels continuously, something I could not do with a single test kit. This unit is not meant for professional testing, but is accurate enough to tell me that I had a problem. I am very pleased with the product.Customer Review: Best decision to buy this deivice

I have to keep track of who is using it next. All my friends asked to place it into their house for a test. One neighbor showed up at 21.. ouch! We had remediation done and as part of the finish I used a provided tester and it matched this tool's reading. I like to turn it on in our house now just to check. I am spreading the word to co-workers and others who don't even think about radon. This little device works very nice and worth the price for monitoring and for friends. I highly recommend it for a friend. What piece of mind to test every month and no $35 for each monthly test with traditional devices.Customer Review: Fantastic Device

My real estate broker lined up a certified Radon inspector to test the house we were going to buy. The water radon test came in with high levels so I assumed the air would too. The radon air test was a hassle to arrange, pay for ($300) and and then wait for the results. Because the sample was disturbed we had to start over. In the meantime we bought this device and it worked perfectly and was idiot-proof. The results matched the expensive lab test. Also, now I am checking my mother and other family member's homes and I don't have to incur any further costs. I highly recommend this product.Customer Review: Radon Detector Works Great

Used this to determine my radon level. It was high. Normal level should be under 4.0, I had 9.5.
I had a mitigation system installed by a local contractor for $775 where he took the vent pipe out of my sump pump through the side of the house and up over the gutter. He put a sealed cap on the sump and motor mounted outside with an on/off switch.
He tested the level with his own professional monitor afterwards and this tested was dead on his professional sensor that he had just had calibrated.
