Tools and Hardware Reviews of Safety Siren Pro Series HS71512 3 Radon Gas DetectorCustomer Review: Worth getting Summary: 5 Stars
We have the version II of this and found it to be accurate and useful. We confirmed the results of this device with a professional tester and also a series of 3 day and 3 month charcoal tests....every single testing method we used matched the digital readings on the Safety Siren II. Cant speak to the III version, but they at least look similar in appearance. Given the substantial risk of radon, this is for sure worth the money. I still do charcoal/carbon tests every few years to verify as well.
Customer Review: Glad I bought the siren Summary: 5 Stars
Easy to use tool to measure radon level. It takes a few days to gather information but since then it I can follow the levels in my basement. Levels vary fro 1.4-1.8 so I know it's reading. This was within the range when I had the basement tested professionally some years ago. The device is small and doesn't show up too much. Keep in mind on the down side the meAsurement is up to 40 percent off as is noted in the owners manual. I hope they can narrow that range some day
Customer Review: Great way to monitor Radon Summary: 5 Stars
Every house should have one. I had a mitigation system installed and use this to monitor things are working. This unit matches very closely to the active readers. Have done a number of tests with different methods to confirm accuracy and this thing is very close. Great way to check if you may need to do further investigation. As a test I turned off my mitigation system and within a week the levels had risen significantly, turned it back on and watched it drop.
Customer Review: As effective as the mail in test for less cost in the long run. Summary: 5 Stars
$130 may seem expensive when you compare it to a $15 mail-in kit. Typically though, those mail in kits cost more like $20 or $25 when you include shipping and service fees. To get a accurate test you would need to do 2 short term tests and a long term test in the "lowest living area of the house". At that point you've spent $75. Want to repeat the tests in a basement or after moving to a new house? You are quickly spending more for those than this machine costs.
Customer Review: great little device Summary: 5 Stars
I recently purchased this tester after I received 38pci/liter gas levels in my basement with a kiddee tester. The digital tester showed 32 a few weeks later after I kept the basement windows open. I have since installed a radon mitigation fan and the levels are down to .7. My brother in law also used it and we moved the tester to different parts of the house. It is expensive but the convenience of being able to move it is worth the money. And it seems to be accurate.
