**UPDATE March 2010 - almost 1 year later - I STILL would give this compost pail 5 stars. I have not had any of the lid problems other people have complained about. I also have not yet replaced the filter and still do not notice an odor, it's wonderful!
We got this countertop pail to hold our compost scraps so we didn't have to go outside several times a day. We are a family of 4 and I probably dump this pail into the big outside composter 2 times a week. This pail is really pretty and looks awesome with our maple cabinets. The inside plastic pail has a handle for easy carrying and is dishwasher safe. That makes dumping it so simple and clean. I have never noticed any odors coming from the pail, it does a great job of keeping any smells inside. Overall, a really fantastic buy!
