Radiant GUARD? "Premium" radiant barrier is a two-sided reflecting 99.5% pure aluminum foil with a poly fabric center for durability. "Premium" radiant barrier perforated for breathability and is designed for new and retrofit installation applications where stapling is required. RadiantGUARD? radiant barrier reflective foil insulation products can reduce attic temperatures by up to 30 degrees when installed to the underside of roof rafters. Lowering attic temperatures provides a significant benefit by reducing air conditional loads and energy usage. Attic insulation radiant barriers can also: --Reduce heat transfer from attic to living spaces by up to 50%, --Extend the life of air conditioning units, and --Increase the comfort level of a home. I installed radiant barrier insulation in my attic and it dropped the attic temperature 30 to 40 degrees in the Texas heat. I can tell a significant difference inside my house as far as radiant heat. Before, I could feel the heat radiating inside, but now It is cooler. My electric bill dropped about $75.00 per month during the summer months. My house is not shaded. Anyone using radiant barrier in a shaded area would probably have lesser results because there would be less radiated heat.
