This is the best reading light. I've tried quite a few. I didn't care for the type that attached to the books because they seem to weigh the book down. I was using a flashlight on my shoulder. This works so well because it is comfortable and sturdy. I can even put it on my nightstand and use it as a night light if I need to get up.Customer Review: excellent light

While I agree that this light does have a spotlight effect if you are reading a large book like I do, the effect would probably be barely noticable on a novel-sized page. It is very bright and makes my books really easy to read while keeping my wife in total darkness -- perfect! I really like this..the light that emanates is a different..bluish color..but I really like it..especially when I'm watching tv in total darkness (like I love to)..and then a small beam of night peers from my shoulder aiming at my book pages. After I bought one, I ended up ordering three more for the family for the occasional blackouts and to have for backups. They last much longer than any booklite I've ever used and I've used them all. For this money, buy them buy the dozen!
