Tools and Hardware Reviews of Rayovac SE3DLN Sportsman Xtreme 300-Lumen LED LanternCustomer Review: Very Happy Summary: 5 Stars
After a great deal of research on LED Lanterns I bought this lantern. I am very happy with it's abilities and find it very bright for an LED, one of if not the brightest LED available.
The carrying handle is made of rubberised steel which is nice to see and will ensure long life. The ability to hang it in a tent with the diffuser taken off is great and seems to increase it's light out put considerably. It lite my whole 8 person tent to a level that you could read any where in the tent. Quality is very good and it feels very sturdy with the rubberized coating. The lantern is relatively small so it is easy to pack and store. The batteries were a little harder then most to put in but no big deal at all. I was surprised so many people complained about this. I haven't test the battery life yet so I can't comment but everything else about this lantern is really excellent while being relatively small for it's out put. Great buy.
Customer Review: Best lantern for the price Summary: 5 Stars
Our area has occasional power outages, and after a recent outage that lasted several hours, I realized our flashlight and candles just weren't enough. I looked at all the lanterns listed on Amazon, and chose this one because it was highly reviewed, and because it took the fewest batteries for a lantern with that output. Two days after I received it, we had another power outage, and this lantern was fantastic, lighting up our entire living room well enough to read by. Unlike some reviewers, I had no problem inserting the batteries. The blinking green light on the base really helped me find the lantern when the lights went out, and I don't believe it will drain the batteries. I have smoke detectors that have the same type of blinking light, and the batteries last over a year. The lantern is just the right size, and it feels very rugged. If we every go camping again, this will replace our old Coleman gas lantern with no problem.
Customer Review: Every home should have one of these Summary: 5 Stars
I live in a suburb of Pittsburgh which seems to suffer an unusually high number of multiple day power outages. In the past I have bought Coleman lanterns with fluorescent bulbs. They're fairly decent; one is rechargeable and can be set to come on automatically when the power goes out.
I was looking for something brighter and this caught my eye. Having read other customer's reviews, I did not hesitate to buy it. It's amazingly small and brighter than any of the fluorescent lanterns I've purchased. It stays cool to the touch and battery life with 3 D alkaline batteries is amazing.
While I bought it for emergency lighting / power outage use, I've found many other uses for it from lighting the picnic table at night to working on things in the dark. I use it when I need a bright, portable light source.
Children love it and it seems to withstand their attention without harm.
Customer Review: Very Bright, Only 3 Batteries & an Emergency Essential Summary: 5 Stars
My old Rayovac lantern used 8 D size batteries. This one only takes 3 and is just as bright! Thanks to using fewer batteries, it's cheaper to run and lighter to carry. I like it so much I bought 2!
Flashlights are one of those things you don't think you need to waste the money on until that day comes when you need it and then you wish you had one. Living in earthquake country, and electrical brown-out country, it's a good idea to be prepared. This lantern is very bright, energy efficient and compact. It has 3 settings: high, low and emergency flashing. Even on low this thing is really bright. And it can even be hung upside down too which helps illuminate a broader area. I really love it and may get a third for the car.
I'm tossing my old, huge, heavy, battery hog Rayovac lantern in the trash! This new one is hands down the best flashlight/lantern I've ever owned!! Go for it!
Customer Review: Excellent Latern Summary: 5 Stars
I was looking for emergency battery lanterns and read on-line that this is the brightest one available. I read the reviews at Amazon and most people gave it a high rating except for the difficulty of installing the batteries with the cover. Due to these concerns I only bought one to try first. I have no difficulty putting the cover on and was successful on the first try. There are two slots that needs to be aligned between the housing and the cover. One of the slot also has an arrow to let you know which slot goes where. Also since the slots are not symmetrical, there is only one way to align the slots. Once you align the slots, push down and rotate the cover and it works fine. It is also brighter then my 13W florescent bulb lantern that uses 8 D batteries and will last longer on only 3 D batteries. Now that I see how easy it is to install the cover I will be ordering two more for my emergency needs.
