Description of SOY-Gel Paint and Urethane Remover, Quart
Easily remove multiple layers of paint, urethane, acrylic, epoxy or enamel without the back-breaking work of sanding and chiseling and without the odor of other furniture strippers! Made with 100% American-grown soybeans, SOY-Gel starts to lift the coatings in minutes.One quart gives you up to 50 square feet of coverage three times the coverage of most traditional strippers. Indoors or outdoors, you can be guaranteed a safe and easy restoration.
Ideal for lead-based paint removal. The lead becomes encapsulated in the gel, preventing airborne particles and allowing for safe disposal. Does not contain methylene chloride. Cleans up easily with water. Safe to use on wood, brick, stone, metal, plaster, concrete, and many other surfaces. Do not use on plastic, PVC, rubber or dry wall. May be used indoors or outdoors.

I bought SoyGel to strip varnish/poly from an endtable so I can re-stain without worrying about the effects of old poly interfearing. The whole process (application, set time, and clean-up) took me about 1 1/2 hours, which I was very happy with considering I'd never done this before with any product. I bought a 1-qt. bottle, and only used the volume that is in the top funnel part of the bottle.
Overall: very easy to use, non-irritating for both skin and breathing fumes, and just generally a piece of cake. It's very goopy, which works out great for giving good thick coverage (don't be skimpy!!). I didn't actually have a paint brush handy, so I used a paint scraper to spread it over the top, and used a paper towel to smear it over the vertical sides. Let it sit 30min and scrape it off. Then just wipe down with water and a sponge. Voila!
Note: when wiping down with water, if the sponge "catches" anywhere or you see paper-like scrapings/pieces, it just means the SoyGel wasn't finished in that spot. Just reapply in that spot, let sit again, and it'll fix it.
Highly recommended for ease of use, non-toxicity, bio-degradability, and made in Bloomington, IL!!!
