A fantastic purchase. It fits well in my kitchen and holds even my heaviest pots. Easy to assemble and to put up.

Customer Review: @#$!@#-ing pot rack
Summary: 4 Stars

My girlfriend shops for stuff on the Internet. She sends me links in email and instant messenger of the stuff she is looking at every day. Every now and then, I "surprise" her by buying something she sent me a link to. This week, it was this hanging pot rack. When it arrived in the mail, unable to keep the secret, I told her I was going to put it up that night. She pretended to be surprised, as usual. Anyway, that afternoon she told me that she had read the reviews here, and that the screws that came with it might not be long enough. I said something like "well, if I need to get extra screws, I will", and thought nothing more of it. Sigh. If only I had listened. So Thursday night after work, I unpacked the pot rack and attacked the wall with a stud finder and a pencil. That's when things started to go wrong. The walls in my house are made of thick plaster. After hours of trying to figure out the best way to hold the stud finder to get any reaction out of it, I finally realized that it wasn't going to be that easy. So, I resorted to the "guess, and drill holes till you find one, then measure" method. I got four holes in before I found the first stud. Thank goodness the studs were actually 16 inches apart.

After finding the studs and drilling three holes. I was ready to hang the Tar Baby....I mean pot rack. In go the 1 1/4" screws...one...two...and the pot rack rips right out of the wall. @#$#$. Fine, then. I'll finish tomorrow, and I'll get some longer screws. I stopped on the way home and bought screws. x`I bought 3.5 inch screws. Why I thought I needed 3.5 inch screws, I don't know. Perhaps I was angry and the wall, and wanted to make sure that it would really hurt when I screwed it. A grudge-screwing, as it were. The wall, however, still had the upper hand. I bottomed out the screws, stripping two of them and breaking four of them off in the wall. Finally, after way too many hours (5 screws, folks...that's all it was), sweat, and red-faced, vein-popping anger, I got the dam thing in. There are four visible holes near the far right stud, and some of the 3.5 inch screws are in at weird angles to get them around the ones I broke off in the wall. At least one of them is stripped so badly that it will have to be broken off or drilled out eventually. Whenever we move out of this place, the pot rack is staying.

Summary: 4 Stars

My kitchen is small with limited cabinet space. After looking at other pot racks, I opted for this model because it matched my decor best and provided ample room for cookbooks and pots.

The builder who constructed homes in our neighborhood was new and rather idiotic from my viewpoint. He used clearance/discontinued materials, especially for door and window sizes, but he also decided to shortcut by making the studs every 24 inches on center so hanging anything that's not exactly two feet wide is a hassle. We've learned to bypass this issue by putting up wide chair rail and attaching it to the studs and then hanging things like cabinets, towel racks and my pot rack on the chair rail. If you have a home that is similarly constructed, you may have to do this.

Once installed, I found the pot rack to be not only visually appealing but also extremely handy. Pots and pans are close by and I don't have to dig through cupboards trying to find the right pan and lid anymore. Lids are stored in the cupboard, but the pans hang neatly out the way.

This brings me to my one complaint--the wire rack that serves as your cookbook holder. I did have cookbooks stored up there originally, but gave up. The hooks get in the way, so you try to place a cookbook, but the hook sticks up a bit causing things to be uneven. Instead, I moved our aluminum stock pots (used for homebrewing) to that shelf because they fit and they are lightweight.

Over time, however, I noticed that the shelf was warping. Though it is supposed to be heavy-duty, it doesn't hold the weight of my cast iron skillets without bowing. I've had to learn to be extremely careful about how I hang my pans because there is no middle support bar to offer center support to the wire shelf. If you have heavy pots and pans, I definitely would recommend finding a stronger pot rack or using the rack for your smaller, less dense items.

very pleased with product overall. did have problems with the pre-determined stud locations, but made things work. initially was unsatisfied with finish of metal, looks like a cheaper splatter-painted finish, however looks fine after installation. would recommend to a friend with a small kitchen or short on storage space.
