Tools and Hardware Reviews of Rowenta DZ5080 Focus Stainless-Steel 1700-Watt Iron

Customer Review: My second Rowenta
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased my first Rowenta in 1998 and it stoppped working recently, but because it had worked so well, I wanted another one. The DZ5080 produces a lot of steam and I would have liked a larger water reservoir because it does has to be refilled frequently. If it had a larger capacity, however, those who find it too heavy will have more to complain about! I read several complaints in the Amazon reviews that it leaks, but if the user reads the instructions included with it, the user will know NOT TO OVER FILL IT because mine does not leak. The instructions recommend draining it after each use and turning the dial to 'MIN'. Had I followed those instructions with my former Rowenta, it would still be working. The DZ5080 is a quality iron and does everything as promised. I do not find it too heavy, love the way it steams out wrinkles, and plan to follow the turn off procedures to make sure this one lasts me for the rest of my life (I'm in my 60s). I recommend this iron and know it's worth the cost.

Customer Review: A steam machine
Summary: 5 Stars

I like to use a lot of steam when I iron, and the Focus comes up to temperature fast and makes great evenly distributed steam. The automatic steam function works pretty well and is easy to use, but I tend to ad a bit more as much because it makes ironing more fun as any useful reason.
This iron did a spectacular job on my more delicate silk shirts as well as making quick work of rumpled kahkis.
The heat seems more evenly distributed than the Black and Decker i was using, and everything about the steam is superior.
The narrow tip makes the area around buttons noticably easier.
The ONLY issues I have with the Focus is that it doesn't have an on/off button (it does have a great three way auto off feature which I tested to verify for safetys sake). It sometimes draws an arc when plugging and unplugging it which can be hard on outlets after extended use.
It also will drip a little durring longer sessions of use.
Overall very highly recomended.

Customer Review: Rowenta Focus 1700 watt iron
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the best iron I've ever had, bar none. I waited several months to write this review because I don't iron a lot, and I wanted to be very familiar with using it before I wrote a review on it.

The main use of an iron, for me, is for sewing and ironing curtains after I have washed them. It is very irritating to use an average iron for those tasks, because it does not get hot enough and the iron and the steam don't usually get the hard wrinkles out even with multiple passes of the iron.

THIS iron DOES get those wrinkles out! Even the worst ones give it up to a little shot of steam or a spray from the water spray feature.

It was expensive but so worth it! Give up a couple of weeks of Starbucks drinks if you have to, this will make ironing SO much more pleasant!

I haven't tried to steam hanging fabrics with the shot of steam yet, but hope that will be as impressive as the rest.

Customer Review: Always Steaming
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this iron on Amazon after a long search and ratings, i finally gave in threw my old leaky out, this is my comparason with black'n'decker which died after 6 months, and old leaky- sunbeam, it died after 4 month. i was surprised when i used the steam., the steam lingered longer on rowenta dz5080, so i wouldn't have to push the button 5 times in a row(like my old one).
my ironing takes only 5 to 8 minutes on rowenta dz5080..., the old iron took forever to get the smallest wrinkles out. rowenta dz5080 steams vertical that is a plus for me. read the directions on what type of water to use.
finally i priced this exact same model at Sears, and amazon is $20 dollars less. i have been in iron heaven if there is one. i can't seem to stop ironing all my work clothes and my husbands.
you know the old saying 'you get what you pay for?' well...., it is true.
you buy cheap- you get cheap.

Customer Review: Can't go wrong with Rowenta
Summary: 5 Stars

I have used a Rowenta iron for as long as I have lived on my own. I despise ironing and was looking for a way to minimize the work involved in not looking like a wrinkled mess - I found the Rowenta and even though the price seemed really high for an iron, I tried it and have loved it ever since. My mom, on the other hand, doesn't believe in spending more than $12 for an iron and therefore, replaces them every year. I finally decided to get her one of her own last Christmas and she is now a convert! This particular iron is easy to use, it glides super easy on all fabrics. The steam function never drips or gets rusty. It is light-weight too.

The price you pay for a quality iron is definitely worth it in the long run - you don't have to replace regularly and it doesn't ruin clothes! I would recommend this product to anyone who is willing to pay for quality!
