Tools and Hardware Reviews of Rowenta DZ9080 Advancer Iron

Customer Review: Terrific Iron
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the best iron I have ever used. It literally irons in half the time compared to my old Black and Decker. I am a seamster and have seen an improvement in my work since I began setting stitches and pressing seams with the Advancer Iron. The burst of steam feature knocks out tough wrinkles and is really helpful with stubborn seams. It is not heavy, but it is heavier than my previous irons, so it really makes pressing fabric easy. The narrow tip is a great feature! It fits like a dream in trouble places. I used it while constructing a coat and the narrow tip allowed access to the most difficult areas.

The one down side is the automatic shut off feature. It will shut off in 8 minutes if left vertically, in 30 seconds if left on its soleplate. I would prefer if this feature were optional.

The Advancer is formulated to work with tap water, not distilled. But for those of us with an excess of organic matter in our tap water, the tap water may be diluted with 50% bottled water (per the instructions) for excellent results.

Customer Review: Lets see a year from now
Summary: 5 Stars

I have owned Romenta's in the past and they are great irons .
They g-l-i-d-e over the clothes and the steam action is fabulous. However, the first Rowenta pooped out after many years when the auto shut off would not turn on again no matter how much I shook it. I returned it to Rowmeta service center for repair and the repair cost more than the iron. But I so loved my Rowenta so much that I purchased a factory reburbished model. That one lasted a year before it began to spit red iron like particles. Rowenta tells me that my water is hard. But I so loved my Rowenta that I purchased this new Rowenta DZ9080 at a whopping price. Its heavy but that what helos it just glide like skates on ice. Shirts particularly iron themselves. I find that full steam is too much steam . \ It holds a lot of water so less refills and the burst of steam is very very powerful. I am using only spring water on this iron.
So lets see a year from now if the DZ9080 begins to spit or not turn-on or what. So far I LOVE this iron. It is worth the bucks.

Customer Review: Advancer Iron a superior product
Summary: 5 Stars

I have bought various brands of irons over the past thirty nine years since leaving for college as a Freshman. During this time I have had a wide range of experiences and coupled with the irons in friend's homes and hotel rooms, I can unequivaocally state that this is the finest iron I have ever used. The price notwithstanding (which requires a commitment for an expensive product) I have had satisfactory results with previous Rowenta irons. This did not prepare me for the quality that I found in this new line. It is truly a professional item that sits easily in place and remains stable despite its larger size. The speed in which it heats up to temperature which is shown with the lights representing different stages, and the ease of filling with a provided measuring cup. Steam is exceptionally variable and runs the gamut from none to wow!. The need for frequent refills which is shown in a large window, represents clearly the superior nature of this unit. I highly recommend it as perhaps the last iron you will ever want to own.

Customer Review: Rowenta DZ9080 Advancer Iron
Summary: 5 Stars

Absolutely awesome iron. The vertical steam feature is 'dangerous' if you don't watch where you put your hand...it's hot! Vertical press only works if you have some tension on the fabric you are steaming, for example, I use it to steam the creases out of the back of my suit coats. You have to have some weight hanging from the back of the coat for it to be fully pressed(like my hand I nearly broiled the first couple times I did this). The iron is smooth, heats up fast, is easy to use, and puts a really, really sharp crease in my shirt sleeves and slacks. We've been using it daily for a month now and it doesn't leak. It does go thru a lot a water with the steam features, but that should be expected. I thought it was a lot of money for an iron, but after buying multiple $30-$50 irons it has been a good investment. My wife who does the majority of the ironing around here says it is everything an iron should be. Always trying to keep her happy, and this was worth it.

Customer Review: A hardest decision to make
Summary: 5 Stars

It was one of the hardest and most time- consuming decisions I had to make! NO REGRET. Superb item. I am of small stature so the described bulkiness and weight of the iron were deterring for a long time. But since I wanted an item of high quality and from all I have read so far on this Rowenta item, I took a leap of faith. NO REGRET, it's an excellent product and is not what you think, ladies! It is surpisingly better than what is being reviewed. The weight of the iron is well distributed throughout which makes ironing a pleasure. The pointy "dolphin nose " of the iron is a great feature, it navigates very smoothly into the hard shoulders and collar areas of a man's shirt and makes ironing dainty ladies shirts very easy. The steam feature is excellent and cuts back on the time you'll need to spend. I am very very happy with the purchase. I would highly recommend it if price is not an issue. It is a good investment.
