Customer Review: Excellent Quality Ironing Board - Great for Quilters!
Summary: 5 Stars

I received my Rowenta Professional ironing board the other day. It is made of excellent quality. I'm a quilter, therefore, I use my ironing baord quite often. My old ironing board was a cheap one from a "big box" store. It was light weight, but functional. I tried replacing it with an updated one similar in style (I needed a bigger iron holder for my new iron) It was also lightweight and didn't perform how I wanted, so it was returned. Then, I bought what I believed to be a better board from a different "big box" store, paying twice as much as the first board. I took it home and it wouldn't open up smoothly. Frustrated, I turned to the internet to find a board that was heavier and sturdier that I wouldn't have to worry about having it fall over. I came upon this ironing board and the many reviews on [...].

I'll admit, I was a little nervous about spending this much money on an ironing board...but decided what I had spent in the past wasn't getting me what I wanted. This board is worth its price! This board is indeed heavier than the others I've tried, but it's not unreasonable, and makes the board stable. The iron platform is very nice and has a fold-out bar for hanging clothes on (aside from the ledge around it). Perhaps the best part of this board is the pad Rowenta puts on their ironing boards. It has a nice padding to it and has held up better than the replacement cover I bought for my original board with the same amount of use. I have yet to use the shelf on the bottom, but it doesn't get in the way when I use the board. Also, this board extends to a higher height than other boards I've tried/owned.

A previous review indicated that you had to reach around and pull on both sides of the board to get it to lower, but I did not find that the case with mine. The one I have goes up and down smoothly.

At this point, I would struggle to find a negative. If you do frequent ironing, I would highly recommend spending the money on this board.

Customer Review: Who spends so much on an ironing board?
Summary: 5 Stars

I'll tell you...someone who's tired of accidentally bumping into the ironing board and the iron tumbling down. Or worse, when you're ironing, and a garment gets caught on the ironing board and the same result...the ironing tumbling to the floor. The thought of a child running into the ironing board and having the iron fall onto them was enough to convince me to find a sturdy board. I will *never* buy a cheap ironing board again.

The fact that it's extra wide is cool, and that the height is adjustable is cool at well. It has a shelf underneath to put folded ironed garments, and the iron stand holds hangers. The day I received this, I ironed 10 pairs of pants and had them hanging from the iron stand, and it didn't tip the board or compromise the iron stand.

But this thing is heavy. I'm someone who needs to put away my ironing board, so this will probably at times feel like lead. But if that's the price I'll have to pay to not have a flimsy ironing board, so be it.

I considered buying the IB-6300, but the only difference I noted was that the 6300 had wheels and had a power supply on the iron. But a considerable amount more for cheap wheels and an extension cord didn't justify the price difference. So after I received this, I went to my garage, and found a 3prong extension cord and fashioned it to the ironing board. Problem solved! And I saved myself oodles of money.

Since I bought this on sale here, I think it's a fantastic investment. Not for the sake of having a "great product", because other ironing boards do function quite well as ironing board, but for the safety factor. Those cheap ironing boards are simply not safe around children or feet.

Customer Review: Solid and Generous!
Summary: 5 Stars

After reading the reviews and coming to terms with the inflated price for an ironing board, I have to say I am very happy I took the plunge.
I've had problems with other cheap ironing boards collapsing or not staying up (we've actually welded one back into place!), leaving 'diamond' marks on items even though I put another towel down for padding, the excessive wobbling, losing the rubber thingy's on the feet so it wont stand correctly and will undoubtedly scratch the floor! I got fed up.
This ironing board makes the chore of ironing a bit less annoying. It is generous in size! I have plenty of room to put shirts, pants, sheets..whatever on the board and not have to make too many additional adjustments in order for the item being ironed to fit. It's very sturdy. No wobbling regardless of whether I set the board up on carpet or tiled floor.
The adjustment mechanism is very easy to push and it allows the board to rise up quite high for taller people and I can also adjust it for a lower setting when I need to sit and iron. (I am a quilter, those who also suffer from this addiction will understand.) :0)
The cover is thick and easily cleaned.
There is lots of room for not only empty hangers but hanging items when done or even stacking folded items on the shelf underneath. The iron holder is large and handy for setting a hot iron on inbetween items.
The board itself is a bit on the heavy side, but I justify that for the high quality of construction.
If you can get over the huge hurdle of paying the price asked of the Rowenta Pro Ironing Board, I highly recommend it as it will probably be the last one you will ever need to purchase!

Customer Review: Finally a decent ironing board!
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this ironing board. It's very stable, I can pile a weeks worth of laundry on the shelf under the board no problem. The fold up hanging rack is just perfect for holding all the ironed garments and it really does hold a lot-6 shirts, 3 pairs of slacks, 4 tops, 5 skirts, 1 dress (ok, so the dress did drag on the ground) and 3 pairs of jeans - and still no tipping! My iron sits perfectly on the ironing stand without sliding around. The board is a lot wider than anything I've ever used before and did take some getting used to especially when ironing shirts. I've found that because the board is wider, I can iron more of the garment with less turning and twisting so I get through it all faster. I get a better finish on all my laundry now, I've used the same iron for almost a year so the improvement has to be due to the ironing board cover and padding. The board can be adjusted through so many different heights, it's perfect for both me and my husband, he's ex-military and still likes to iron his shirts with sharp creases so he's really happy at how they look. Yes, the board is heavier than anything I've ever used but it's easy to fold up and store away, I'm over 50 and don't have a problem with the size and weight. My work collegues think I'm mad because I am so thrilled with my new ironing board, but ironing is a real chore and anything that can make life easier and speed me through my chores is welcome in my house. This ironing board does all that and more!

Customer Review: Good But Had to Modify
Summary: 5 Stars

Having a Rowenta iron, I decided we needed a Rowenta ironing board! When Amazon tempted me with a sale on the IB-6200 I bought it ($75.) This board is good but it wasn't great. Right off the bat I noticed the attached iron holder and clothes hanger got in the way of ironing. After trying to work around this contraption I decided it was coming off. I took a hacksaw to the two bars that secure the contraption to the actual ironing board. I can now say my modified IB-6200 is GREAT! It is now a simple ironing board that has plenty of ironing real estate room and a very sturdy base.

With the modified IB-6200 it is extremely easy to iron my 18x37 dress shirts and T-shirts. All the vents in the metal board and the padded cover combined with the irons generous steam quickly irons out wrinkles. It's not 100x's better than my previous Wal-Mart ironing board but it is an upgrade mainly due to generously wide ironing area.

From the other reviews I was expecting an anvil on legs. It really isn't that heavy of an ironing board. I find it very easy to move around.

In my opinion an ironing board this sturdy does not need an iron holder. Perhaps Rowenta could make a newer version with a removable rack. Even without a iron rack it's very safe to simply leave the ironing standing on the ironing board.
