About the Dirt Devil Pet Vac
I got this because my previous Dirt Devil died after years of faithful service. I don't remember the model number. It was blue. It did a great job with cat hair, but I kept my cats brushed (if you start them young, they will accept brushing. In time some of them even grow to enjoy it). It came with a very nice wall rack that works well with my new vac.
I did not get this for pets, (I no longer have them they RIP) only for a powerful vac for furniture.
Pros:
1. The powerful motor
2. The powered brush
3. It has a nice assortment of attachments
4. It does not weigh too much
5. The cord is quite long
6. The HEPA filter
7. The easy open dust cup
Cons:
1. The belt is not the easiest to change
2. I had hoped that the hose would attach in front where the belt access cover is. My mistake.
I had a hand vac before that had a hose that attached in that area, and it worked much better than this pet vac and the previous Dirt Devil. It was quite some time ago, and I can't remember the vac's name. It was ingenious: you stick the hose in the front and it turns off the brush roller and goes directly into the part with the motor. There was no loss of suction. It in time this vac also died, but it was a very good vac with a very good hose/ attachment system. It seems like someone would use this system again, especially with the way everyone complains about attachment hoses. It does seem like it would be more simple and might possibly be cheaper to manufacture, but what do I know, I'm only a female. Maybe I'll email them with this idea. If you don't ask for what you want, you are at least partly to blame if you don't get it.
3. It would be nice if there were a place to wrap the cord.
4. It would be nice if it were more evenly balanced. It tilts forward. (I could be wrong about that)
5. The directions are really a mess. Would it kill them to do all of the directions of each language separately? I downloaded the PDF manual at the Dirt Devil.com site. It's a little bit better.

Since I am only using it for the furniture, I'm sure it will be more than adequate. I do think I will be getting the washable filter that fits this vac.
