Frankly, I am somewhat surprised at some of the previous reviews.....Two points that really make me adore this piece of gear.
1)The cutting blade although at first seemed dull....is exceptional. I've owned my Ryobi for 3.5 years...and have really put it to the "test" this spring.... am having Ryobi love. When going to my favorite "Blue building" Depot store...I bought the Latest and greatest cutting blade attatchment for a newly purchased "whacker". Of worthy mention is that the new attatchments have a minimally sized cutting edge ( maybe 1/2 inch)...the Ryobi has three cutting arms with a much larger cutting edge...I am cutting 1-1.5 inch wide brush with ease(measured at the base).
My new supposedly nice cutter bogs down...and takes about 7x the time to cut a similar area...tho doesn't take down larger brush that the Ryobi does.....
2)Another requirement is that my little "5'2" farm girl" can start it with ease.....the Ryobi fits this bill nicely....
Our primary application is a beautiful deep clear creek that runs along our property along our 42 acres.
Furthermore, we just took ours in for a "tuneup"....just wanna keep our stuff nice......and for 30 bucks....our small engine place....tuned up our top end RPMs to a screaming screetching level....gonna get that "detuned" here soon.....tho it purrs nicely at idle/low RPM's
Did have a case where the air filter cover popped off as with a previous review....but I clanked it hard against a fallen tree......snapped it right back in place without problem.....The cover also makes it easy to clean the filter without tools....it really is a nice piece of gear...I am going to get a couple more....makes it fun to cut intimate paths thru our woods......
Bottom line...its worth a good look...I am getting 2 more.....
