I used to carry a machete for clearing trails and cutting firewood along with a folding shovel. Now I just carry this tomahawk. I discovered this tool when a friend of mine bought one first. I've used my a fair amount; he's used his extensively. I use it to cut firewood, dig holes, driving tent stakes, pulling tent stakes (see the holes in the blade? perfect!), and for entertainment. When all your chores are done, it's fun to throw this well balanced axe. After many poor throws, this tomahawk has show it's durability. I've also used the axe to pry wood apart and am surprised the handle holds up as well as it has. For the price, the quality of the tool is simply amazing. It's also extremely light. The construction of the tomahawk feels and looks well made. I'm usually a Cold Steel man but, seeing this in the store I was very impressed. I received this as a gift for CHRISTmas this year and it is a great addition to my home protection tools of defense. It is strategically positioned by my side of bed in case of gun jamb and or bum rushed attack. I would definitely not want to be on the business end of this tomahawk. If you are serious about protection for your family and you live in a "no gun" zone like Chicago or Washington DC I would seriously look into purchasing tools like this Tomahawk and learn how to properly use them. I purchased this tomahawk over a year ago. I purchased this thinking that it would be a good camp/survival tool and i was not dissapointed. This tomahawk has accompanied me on numerous outings and it has not let me down. It is rugged and an excellent all around tool. It has passed every single test i have put it through and it has outperformed other hatchets i have owned. I beleive that the negative reviews are based on the old version of the tomahawk which came with a wooded handle. SOG has since switched to a much sturdier fiberglass handle which is a much better choice. Over all this is an amazing tool for the price and you will be hard pressed to find a more affordable tool.Customer Review: Awesome!

I have purchased other hatchet and tomahawks from Gerber and other companies, but none compare in quality to this item. It is extremely sharp, durable and has a great sheath you can also use to hook it to your belt. It is a little bit more top heavy than I anticipated and you have to be careful when chopping because the spike on back is long and could come back and get you if you aren't careful, but I still would recommend this to anyone looking for a quality tomahawk. Dealing with Amazon directly is always a plus because of their free shipping, prompt delivery and their great return policy. I was watching a Hickok45 video on throwing tomahawks and axes and got inspired to buy this from Amazon. It came on time, easily packaged, and was so useful I carry it in the car. I used it after a storm to clear debris, cleared limbs from my horse's electric fence pathway to avoid short circuits, and it can be thrown, but I am not good at it. It fits my hand well and has held up to quick use due to storms in our area. I can recommend it to anyone who likes quality equipment that can help your camp ground, or a game throwing at a target.
