Customer Review: Advice about fire resistant safe and chests

I thought I'd offer this general advice for anybody considering buying a fire resistant (not fireproof) safe/chest product.
Some of the products only offer fire protection and not water protection, now consider this, if your home/property did catch fire and you were unable to grab your fire resistant safe, and it was left in the property, you'd be thinking...'that's OK, it's fire resistant'...but then (hopefully) the Fire Dept. turn up...and what do they do? They soak your property with water, and your safe is only 'fire resistant' not 'water resistant'.
My advice - go for one that is also water resistant, as where there is fire, hopefully water will soon follow!

This is a great way to secure those papers that you really need to protect that important documents. I really love how it's Manila-size hanging-folder, so you can just insert folders and keep them organized.
They give a three year warranty and keep the safe cool despite exterior fire temps.
With a key lock to that extra privacy.
Protect your deeds, contracts etc. Hopefully you won't need this, but it's great peace of mind for the items you cannot risk.

Amazon has this at a wonderful price at the time of this review. It is large enough to keep a decent amount of documents and discs, and a few other valuables in. As intended, it is a firesafe - not burglar proof, so don't expect it to be. It is small enough to hide though and has no handles so can be a little awkward to carry around for its weight. I purchased this fire safe box for my boyfriend for Christmas. I currently own the exact same model and I love it for storing all my important papers. The only downfall is that this box is extremely heavy for moving around. It DOES NOT come with hanging files so you need to buy them seperately. It's a good product. Has ample space for the backup drive that we use it to house plus a few important papers. Cuts down on the trip to the bank safe deposit box. I can't say it will hold up to its fire claim as fortunately, I have not had to test that aspect (smile). The price was better than our local home improvement store. So, all in all, a good buy.
